Ludum Dare #53compo
Air Delivery
You're a sky-island delivery worker delivering mail to all the nearby islands. Everything runs smoothly until the letters suddenly aren't being delivered. Find all of the letters and deliver them to their recipients. Maybe they'll give you something as a thank you.

Really like the glider mechanic, the little air swooshes is a nice touch.
Could see a whole game like Cave Story being made like this.
I'm not sure there's anything obvious that needs to be added. As others are stating, more level would be nice, but what you have is really sufficient for the scope of this project.
Good job on making an enjoyable game that really feels complete. It was a pleasure to play.
You really made me to consider pico8 for the next Lumdum Dare event.
I'm surprised that only a few of the comments pointed out the quality of the level design and the overall logic behind the game. Maybe metroidvania means this as well, but yeah, the progress system was on spot, great new mechanics came in with the perfect pace. I can't imagine how many coffees did you take in the last two days, but it was well worth it!
The athmosphere of the game is amazing. The art and the music as well, it puts together the perfect vibe. I will be surprised if I find a better entry for this jam.
Hats off!
It did leave me wanting more. Nicely done 👍.
The one issue I found was a typo in the last person's dialog---and considering how nitpicky that sounds I think you did a good job :)
Really lovely games, loved the graphics and the music! Really reminded me of Cave Story and captured the vibe of some areas from that game. I just wish my jump went a -little- further horizontally, but felt great to get the glider. More games need gliders! I'm very impressed, good Compo game for sure!
My only (small!) gripe is that I found needing to re-tap up to grab ladders midair to be unintuitive and so for a while I figured I was taking the wrong approach until I figured out I had to re-press the key instead of just having it held.
I do wish there were some sort of threats or enemies in the game, but that would probably take away from what is a very calming game overall. Either way, great work on this
I think for the last part you're supposed to scale the ladder and I could for the life of me not figure out how to do it, but that may be more of a skill issue on my part.
(I dont know why this posted twice but I cant delete it. Whoops.)
It was pretty fun to play, although controls felt a little quirky and underpolished. Graphics are nice, sounds and music are on point, story and upgrades are enough to keep player engaged until the end. Nice work!
Really polihsed and pretty game! Im amazed that this was a compo game :D Really awesome stuff!
edit: also the music reminded me of the track "plant" from cave story specifically
I really enjoyed the mini Metroid mania vive of exploring the level and find new ways to proceed further.
I've played others pico-8 games here in the jam and your is the best so far (by the way, yours is my top 5 best mood games; I really enjoyed this).
The pixel art is adorable and I loved the little details: the dust when we move, the wind when gliding, the care with the NPCs...
The music is relaxing and it doesn't get boring with time, which is great!
I managed to finish your game, but can't find one of the person to deliver the letter (by the way, the letter count on top-right of the screen showed 9/9 but I still had one letter to deliver; It was a bug?)
Overall, a excellent entry! Congrats!
I gladly 100%-ed this one and look forward to checking out other things you've made, as well as future LD entries from you :D
