"Whoa dude, how did I end up here?!

Ah, bro, I remember... I owe a big chunk of change to the notorious Bamboo Bandit, the most famous kingpin in downtown Bearlin. To pay him back, I gotta make some serious cash ($$$) before the party ends, which means I gotta hustle and sell some goods to the locals...
But damn, what if the poh-leece bust me?
Naaah bro, forget it! You gotta risk it to get the biscuit."

This game was made for the Ludum Dare 53 game jam.

The game is written entirely in Pico-8.

HOW TO PLAY:

You are the dealer at the club and your goal is to make as much money as you can before 6:00 AM; when the party ends. Buy some stuff from Bamboo Bandit, the big panda in the VIP section of the club. Click on him, choose what substance you want to buy.

After the purchase, deliver these to the people, they will let you know what they want!

If your ENERGY level reaches 0, its GAME OVER.

If your ANXIETY level reaches 100, its GAME OVER.

But fear not, consume whatever you want from your inventory and keep going. Just don't overdose!

Fun little game, i ended up with 1100 at 6am. The hit boxes on some stuff felt a bit too big and was jarring.

Concept is pretty simple and obvious, but realization, music, art design - all of it is pretty good!

Maybe wanted some in-game tutorial, not in annotation (found seller only on 2nd try).

Also I would recommend you use WASD for control (or maybe both of WASD and arrows, but not arrows only).

Overall: definetly like!

@sevenzik thanks for the review! Yeah I absolutely agree on the store part, we just didn't have time to create proper tutorial :( Regarding the WASD problem, sadly it's a PICO-8 limitation so no way to overcome this. Glad you enjoyed! :)

Damn, what a hilarious game! Art is beautiful, animations and sound give a vibe of a clubbing night. I enjoyed putting on a hat of a drug dealer. I wouldn't change a thing. Amazing submission, great job.

god i love pico8 games, i'm always impressed how incredible the results look when you have this kind of constraint! besides the morality of this game, this was very funny and fast paced. the soundtrack was rad! great work

Feels very clean! (even the drugs haha) Loved the soundtrack and the colors :) a tutorial wasn't necessary, bc it's easy to handle. Found the dealer the 2nd time too, but was no problem. I would prefer WASD too.

The game was pretty fun but I didn't realize I was able to move for a while, but after that I explored the map and it was well put together. Overall great game!

Now finally, I see some proper delivery. Absolutely amazing music, what a banger that goes hard! Artstyle is great too, gameplay is pretty fun as well. Very original game which I truly enjoyed playing. Just keep any kids away. Well done!

Cool game, love the graphics and music especially! I feel like once you get enough of a nest egg to reliably buy coke, though, there's not much reason to do anything else since it gives you so much return on investment.

Short and sweet, one of the more complete games I've seen this Jam. Never could I have guessed that in this Jam I would say "dang it this turtle wants Cocaine and all I have is weed" Good atmosphere which combines well with the graphics.

Only criticism I would say is that the gameplay doesn't seem to evolve much from the buy/sell loop but still I had fun with it for the time I played it. Also wanted to appreciate your super fluid and pretty pixely transitions. Overall a very well rounded game. Superb jam game!

A very fun game! It's really clever to make the goods to sell be consumable, which adds the strategy part of the mechanism and makes the game more compact. One of my favorite game!

Love the sprites and music, after running around for a while I'd saved up enough to keep the bars steady for the rest of the night so I just sat back and enjoyed the music :)

I really enjoyed roleplaying as a drug dealer, and the gameplay mechanic of having to manage my resources between selling the drugs, and using them myself - my coke habit got me into a bit of trouble! Nice graphics and audio too. Really humorous.

Simple and straightforward game loop which is totally acceptable for a jam! Great sfx and cute art. I wish there was a bit of a story or something to spice it up a little though :)

I got stuck with a bunch of weed that nobody wanted, but I still had a good time. Fantastic Techno-utopian Edict remix, great atmosphere, and it was fun trying to improve on a strategy despite the seemingly simple rules. Nice game!
