Oh truck man
You are the humanity's last hope! Deliver the zombie cure to the other side of the country!
At least I got the core game loop done and even though it might not be challenging, it is still fun just to hit everything and send it flying.
Will I get to finish all of this? I would really like to. A lot of the stuff is already there, just not "plugged in" to work with the rest and had to be cut. The player controller is actually 90% finished already, just gotta add the getting in and out of the truck and shooting.
So if you are intrigued by all of this, just check the Itch.io link below every now and then if there are any updates :-)
So... I apparently overscoped (again)
A little bit, though I was able to work on this game for only about 30% of time I expected to.At least I got the core game loop done and even though it might not be challenging, it is still fun just to hit everything and send it flying.
So, what's next?
I actually love the idea behind the game. The original plan is to make the player refuel the truck by stopping on the gas stations, getting out of the truck and while the truck is refueling, defend against incoming zombies, explore the surroundings and then quickly getting in the truck and continue the journey. What then?
After each stage the player ends up in a hub of sorts, where he can fix and upgrade his truck as well as accept smaller side deliveries that influence the path he needs to take. Different routes can have variable length (already in game, just not utilized to full potential), as well as difficulty and environment. After completing these side deliveries the player is rewarded by more upgrades for his truck. Will I get to finish all of this? I would really like to. I don't know if it was what you were thinking on but maybe it would be more interesting to not focus on rpg-ish mechanics with stat upgrades and such and instead add to the fun car movement with more obstacles and things to play with and ragdoll around the map, and maybe make upgrades that change the way you move or give you movement abilities or such, instead of them just giving you more damage or durability or something. Just a thought!
