Very cute graphics, the single-button control scheme was a bit weird to get used to at first, but ended up feeling fun & challenging

Checkpoints in the very start do feel a bit too sparse, there's a stretch of 3 rooms where spikes start getting introduced that I got stuck on for quite a while

You guys should absolutely publish this as a mobile game. The control scheme is perfect for it. The art and animations were 10/10, I especially liked the particle effect when you jump, it just was so well animated.

My only bit of feedback is that these particular sorts of wall jumps with spikes on the walls felt unfairly hard compared to the much better feeling platforming in the rest of the levels. Lining up the jump height perfectly with them was more trial and error than anything.

Overall an excellent concept and execution I would love to see turned into a full game on mobile.

Amazing game! So well executed and the art and music are both beautiful. The only think I'd want is a faster respawn or a way to skip the animation but that's just cause I died way too much haha. Took about 20 minutes but I got their in the end though :) Well done on the game

I played it for almost 20 minutes. The game is very polished, even the menu. The music never gets annoying either.

Had so much fun playing this. Took me 50+ deaths to get to the end and enjoyed all of them! The music and art were fantastic.

Great lil game! Simple but good art, music and controls. It is not as hard as super meat boy, which this game reminds me of. It would be great to have more of delivery in it's gameplay, other than that well done!

Okay but what the heck, why does this game look so good? This pixel art style is adorable, and I am once again reminded that the art industry is not all about making the picture look as gloomy and realistic as you can (sob sob)

Also the spikes obliterated me so many times I nearly cried.
Jk jk, I blame my stiff fingers for at least half of my stupid blunders, and my general air-headedness for the rest of them.

Really good, excellent graphics and really smooth movements. Something about it just made me want to keep going!

I was having a ton of fun with this! Love the style, love the music..its a big challenging for someone like myself who doesnt game too much, but everything was super well done. The cute beat up box life logo on the side was superb too.

As a critique:

The checkpoints REALLY make a difference in the fun of the game. I'd make them a bit more obvious, less off to the side and just, right smack dab there for the player to hit. I missed the first one a few times in my peripheral vision thinking it was a secret wall...probably just my dumb fault, but once I started finding them the game really opens up its level of enjoyment and the challenges become more strategic and fun rather than 'man...i gotta go through all these all over again...'

Played about 30 minutes solid of it before putting it down.

I loved the graphics and audio, and the programming is rather clean as well

However, I think the level design needs to be more forgiving. This feels like the final level of a much longer game. For this I'd take the Super Metroid approach of "if I can't defeat the boss without getting hit once, it's too hard." As a developer, if you can't beat this entire game without failing once (not literally, but essentially,) it's too hard. This game also frontloads the difficulty without enough time to get used to it. A adjustable first jump could also really help, having you high jump all the time works for a mobile game but not in this context where we do have adjustable buttons.

Awesome work, though, this is very charming!

from UI to audio to graphics to animation, everything is polished perfectly. I just wish when I died it put me back in a little faster

Insane polish on this game! a little bit on the harder side about gameplay,i feel like, the hardest jumps are those that you cannot do trial and error, so a little limited time rewind feature can help to improve and learn the jumps! but nonethless a great entry!

Very cool! Art, animations, music and sfx work perfectly together, controls feel very responsive, and overall game has a great vibe. My only wish was for guy to go backwords (and not forwards) after sliding, but even with that it was a nice playthrough!

@squidly It was hard to test everything within 72 hours but now that we have a lot of feedbacks, we are working on a better level design! And for the adjustable jump, I agree that it should feel better on pc but we chose to go with this jump just to make the level design easier since it's always the same height. But for sure we can make this a lot better, thanks!

What the hell... This is so good!

The pixel art is fantastic, the game feels so good and snappy, the sound design is spot on, the music production is great. I have not critique other than the game gets pretty hard. I got to the third checkpoint without too much difficulty but I couldn't get to the next one before being beaten by the game :sweat_smile:

This is actually very fun! It has the perfect amount of juice to make it super addicting. The audio is extremely good and the graphics are very cute. You could actually release this and nobody would know that it was made in 72 hours!

The cleanest game I've played in the jam so far. I loved the graphics and the UI is the juiciest I've seen in a while. Sadly I didn't get a very good time since I died often because of some tricky parts, but I sure had fun! Would be perfect as a mobile game!

The art is super good and it's nice to see a Game Maker game doing so great!
The game is a bit hard even though it feels fair. I must admit I would have liked a faster respawn time because it's sometimes frustrating to die just one jump after the checkpoint and take a whole 10 seconds to reach the exact same point.
But I'm just nitpicking, I'm overall really impressed by the quality of the game, great job!

The graphics are super nice!

I love the graphics and sound in this game. The controls are so simple, requiring only one button to jump. The animation is also great.
Overall, it's a very cool game!

Damn! I managed to make a 13 min run and was feeling proud. But the game moved to the main menu as I was readying to get a screen...

Anyway, absolutely ADORABLE graphics. It is really pretty.

Tons of polish on this one! feels really great to play, and easy to get lost in the gameplay loop. Really nice experience all around!

Rarely do I play jam games for *this* long while being dialed in the entire time.

Y'all did a *really* solid job here! The mechanics are simple, but they are stretched to their limits and explored thoroughly with the level design, which is a choice that I think takes a lot of restraint and know-how in order to do right.

The audio was also excellent, with a simultaneously relaxing and upbeat jazz tune carrying you the entire way. The sound effects were also nice and crunchy to fit the visuals nicely.

And speaking of visuals, what you've done here meets the same high bar as everything else. The animation of the box boi (and the boss at the end), as well as the assets for the backgrounds, save rooms, etc. are all super polished and clean while maintaining a distinct and consistent style.

In my opinion, this is a home run of a jam entry. Some might be a bit off-put by the demanding difficulty, but fortunately for me that kinda stuff is right up my alley. :) Excellent excellent job with this one, y'all!

What a super fun platformer, it feels super polished, from the art to the sound desing and the controls. The only thing I would complain about maybe is the size of the spike hitboxes, they did feel a bit punishing at times. All in all a super solid entry, well done!

Neat runner with nice animations, graphics and sounds. Gameplay is pretty mobiley (well, it's a runner), although it was still fun to play on PC.

Nice entry, although the game really lacks Jump Buffering – it's a must for such platformers, and the controls feel frustraiting at times, when you pressed the button right before you land, but the character didn't jump. It's very easy to implement, so I don't think it's gonna be a problem if you continue the development. I'd also polish wall sliding sound closer to what's happening on the screen (at first sliding is very slow, so the sound should be really quite and build up with the speed of sliding down).

I think it can become a nice little mobile game, good job!

Graphics, music and sounds, level design, difficulty curve, everything is at a truly high level. The controls are a real pleasure. Definitely one of my favorites for this LD.

PS: I would like to scold this game a little so as not to cover it with flattery, but I just could not find why, maybe some times spikes killed me not fully touching, so i don't really understand the MC's hitbox.

Really satisfying sound design. I loved the soundtrack too. Gameplay was very hard and punishing. I feel like that's what you were going for though, with the meatboy vibes. Personally, I would've liked the spike hit box to be a hair smaller, but maybe that's not the kind of game you set out to make. All in all, my nitpicks are just preferences. The game was really good and I had a lot of fun! Great work

This game kept me playing for while, the gameplay is engaging and reminded me of Leap Day. My game also uses this “you control box” concept, so it was fun seeing it used in a different way. I loved the visuals, the music and sound design are great and fit the game perfectly. Congrats to the team!

Very polished game, but I got stuck on a spike section. After retrying for a couple of minutes, I had to put it down. Definitely had a lot of potential though. Very simple mechanic, but having the left/right control taken away presented an interesting challenge. It almost felt like someone else was playing the left/right controls while I'm playing the jump button.

A suggestion I'd have is to do away with physical checkpoints, make them automatic, and also make them more frequent. The problem is that taking away the left/right controls makes climbing back up previous sections quite slow, whereas in a traditional platformer you'd be able to take the optimal route every time since you have full control over the character movement.

Oh my god! So cool game! There is not too much delivery stuff in gameplay, but in narrative and story there is some. And also I saw already a several games with this mechanics, so it's not a unique concept. But it's very high quality polish to this type of gameplay!

The controls, movement, gameplay so satisfying and addictive, I can't stop playing xD
I got stucked at the end, it was quite hard and half of my time I just tried to reach to final :)
There is some problems with hit boxes, because I can't properly understand the hit box of player character.

I am also not fun of speedrun games, and there was a FOMO effect when I wanted to collect all of the pages, and it was annoying to miss something :(

Music, Sounds, Graphics, Effects - matched very well and it's very pleasant.

But despite to all negative aspects, very strong game so far! You guys did a really great work! Especially thank you to your game and level designers, so smart guys!

The HTML port didn't run for me so I used the desktop version. It was really cute and fun! I adore the pixel art and thought the ending was funny!

This game makes me so tense, mainly because I can't die if I want a good time. Visuals and audio are fantastic, and the gameplay feels very polished. Great job!

I love it! Easily some of the most fun I've had with any LD game this jam. The graphics are great, the sound is great, the single-input gameplay is incredibly fun yet challenging, but didn't feel unfair at all with the checkpoint system. This game is too good for a jam game. Nothing stands out as sub-par in it. My only gripe is that it makes me realize I suck at games :D.

Fantastically polished. Audio was sweet and the checkpoints were nicely spaced but my limited skill caused me to early out.

incredibly fun and polished, i loved watching it on stream, i loved it even more when i played it! i can definitely see why it was on the score chasers tournament because it has so much potential, and it's very addictive! you could add 100 more levels i'll play them :D

Daaamn those spikes haha. Really fun game, congrats to the time ! Sound fx on the jumping is not annoying at all, and focusing on the jumping really makes it very simple to pick up (but definitely not to finish)
