You are a white bat helping Cunies to find berries to eat. Shoot big fruits to produce berries for cunies to eat. The more berry they eat, the more score you'd get. BTW the cunies are afraid of you and other flying creatures and will run away. Protect the cunies from enemies while getting food for them!
Control scheme:
- Numpad keys = Move around and aim shots/tosses.
- X = Shoots sonar.
- Z = Grabs/tosses fruits.
- Enter = Confirm/Pause the game.
- F8 = Take a screenshot.
Features:
- Can move and shoot in 8 directions.
- Can grab, carry and fruits while flying and shooting.
This is a strange thing to say, but I really liked the menu! It felt really tight and responsive. Art was nice - I liked the way the little dudes wandered around the screen.
I found it a little hard to tell what I was meant to be doing, even though I read the instructions carefully - it felt like I wasn't achieving anything, but would progress to the next stage anyway. I was able to shoot the fruits, but couldn't seem to pick anything up - but kept advancing through the game while struggling to figure out my role in it.
All up, definitely a nice execution of the theme - just a little hard to follow.
Very cute art! And lovely music. I think the herding could've been tweaked a bit more - hard to have control if the cuties move faster than you, and will occasionally run underneath you. The 'maze' level demonstrates these difficulties well. Surprising amount of levels and mechanics for a jam game! I loved the animation of the food breaking and spilling out. Good stuff!
Sweet tunes 😎 I felt that the game lacked some challenge though. Getting a highscore sure, but there should probably be some way of failing a level...
... At this point I just left the game running without touching the controls at all, just to see what happened. In like the 8th level, with one "heart" collected, this guy turned up! Now I couldn't proceed without actually doing something. Nice!
What I'm trying to say is that you made everything right! Menu, music, sound, graphics, scene progression, tiny creature movement. But maybe you lost some of the core in the game after making the few first levels. Really good work though on all the good things! 🌟
*PS. I was really annoyed that the sonar was used to shoot things, when it's really used to echolocate 🤦 But maybe that's just me!*
