Touch the piece on the top right to rotate.
Drag it to the grid to place it in game.
It needs to be place next to another piece.
Complete objectives to get points and more pieces.
More points eventually allows you to increase depth.

I found I mostly just planned on cramming everything in close, I think maybe having the next piece after the current one to place would be helpful, so you can have more strategy in leaving good gaps.
But overall I thought it was pretty fun!
