When our team was brainstorming for LD59 we kept thinking what signals made sense for a game. Radio, communication, bats...then we combined a variety of concepts and ideas on our Miro board until we ended up with an image like below

We set our world in a retro-futurism inspired world, where typical bat roosts were now towering skyscrapers illuminated by neon-powered halos. With a limited timeframe and only 1 3D artist, our level design was limited so we focused on both our mechanics and greyboxing out what we felt was appropriate for the world as shown below.

The final concept that we have to show you is a basic traffic management game where you pick up a stop sign to halt traffic and let pedestrian bats cross to the other side. The gameplay is basic and the win/lose condition both revolve around either having 20 pedestrians die or getting 20 across the street.

We really enjoyed getting the chance to create a game in Godot and have plenty of ideas for building out this arcade experience, but we already have a backlog of projects to finish for Steam over the next few months. There is a lot of jank in the final product, but with 72 hours and diving into a new workflow it was expected. We would love to hear your thoughts on what we did right and where we should take this!
