i love it :) I love AI and the idea is creative :P i like this kind of stuff man good job
Nice game. too bad there is no IA. I guess it could be fun with 2 players but I couldn't test that.
Interace was a headache
You're right, the AI ain't too impressive (or is it supposed to actually do stuff? It didn't do anything at all when I played). Pretty cool game, though. I think I like "indirect RTSes".
Wow. I must have spent close to 2 hours (or more, didn't check the clock before I started) playing a single game against the computer. Granted, I didn't have a clue in the beginning, so the computer had the chance to build up and train its bugs before I had done much ;) Coolest thing was when I attacked the computer with most of my bugs at one side, which made the computer bugs take over my tiles on another side, and then after maybe 15 seconds, we had swapped sides :)

This is one of only two games receiving 5 in Fun from me. Very well done.
Although Your game was very addicting and I Enjoyed you game very much. The light and Dark Theme Was not very apparent in you submission though. My suggestions would be that you Allow custom controls along with net play would be nice with any other additions you can think of. Exelent Job!
Second time playing I immediately made eight new hives, then the swarm crushed all the blues. I like the system - worth doing some post-comp design/tuning work?
Interesting enough to keep me playing until I beat the cpu.
Wow thats awesome! i was playing it for aages!
That is a really interesting idea. A tut level and some mouse work would have made a cool addition. Hope you develop that into a complete game. Well done.
This is the game I had the most fun with. Needed more terrain options and more strategy - I have played twice and the AI has beaten me twice.
This game occupied, and continues to occupy, several hours of my time. Every aspect of the game, to me, is innovative, especially the arrow control system. I enjoyed it greatly.
This game is terrific! It's really too bad the computer isn't any good because then it'd be just excellent all around. I really hope you decide to finish this one after the contest is over.
This is a great game. It's been the most fun out of all the games I've played so far, and one of the only ones I will keep playing. It does meet the theme, but the connection is a little weak. The AI works well for me. I'm impressed with what you have acomplished. It's one of the best games in the group.
Everything works really great, move, hives, etc. But when playing the computer it just sat there on its nine squares and did nothing until I opened a torrent of my guys into its base through two pipelines.
Overall it took only a couple minutes to win.
2-player I could see being really good though.
This game totally rocks! Its sucking my time!! Ieee! Must rate other entries... cant stop playing... [I notice some people say the AI sucks.. well dont attack it instantly.. build up first then its much harder.. atleast for me :) ]
An RTS in 48 hours! Coolio
A bit confusing.
I enjoyed this way too much... A creative premise, ok theme adherance (I guess it wasn't as focused on light as some, but still very good). A bit more strategy balance, but AI was good for 48 hrs. I can beat it too easily now though... :(
Cool. A lot like xbattle.
Pretty interesting idea. Doesnt quite fit the theme (just kidding!) It's a good game.
Not really well in theme.. but otherwise the game is interesting and somewhat fun as well, could be something to work on for a nice game.
Not exactly to the theme but better than a lot of the others.

Oh yes, time and sleep management are very important. I managed to do about 35 hours of work last time. I'll see if I can beat that this time :)

Also tweaking the gameplay takes a lot more time than one would think.

Yeah, in my experience its about 2% code and 98% tweaking :)

"Nope, STILL NOT PERFECT, must adjust this variable some more!"

Extremely enjoyable and unique. I love it :)

That doesn't sound at all like the theme of light and darkness...

PS: I tease. =)

*Just finished beating the computer again* I have no complaints. I love this game so much :D
Richard20 Apr 2005, 06:44
To be honest, I didn't notice that aspect of the game when I was playing it. Now that you've mentioned it, I can see it in action :)

Im so totally addicted to your game!! :)

I'm sorry but I have the final version, I played a few "vs. computer" games and the AI never did anything. :/
dbickett23 Apr 2005, 14:57
I have the final version. I've played the computer like three times for an hour or so, and beat them each time, but they most certainly did something ;) Nope, no problems here.

I downloaded the PikzelsFinal.zip that was in your section on this page, and yes, the enemy never built anything or did anything. The ants for both teams moved around happily though. I even played twice!

Just sat on their 9 squares for me too.

The AI worked fine for me. Really great game this :)
urth24 Apr 2005, 08:37
The AI worked for me too. It expands at first and when it is attacked it is quite defensive.
cairnswm25 Apr 2005, 06:50
I never had a problem with the AI. I found it recovers very well and if you overextend it hits back hard.

The game is completely a game of little by little - any large attack will be defeated.
korg28 Apr 2005, 03:48
I think the thing to do is build defencivly yourself for a bit. Dont mongolian horde the computer at the start. The its a challange.
