*DAL-Q is a metanarrative toy game that explores a near future where our present has already become outdated.*
I'd like to give a huge thank you to my friend Rolly who helped me with the original idea. Check out his awesome games btw : https://ldjam.com/users/rolly/games
I'm a professional game developer in the every day life and I am noticing the huge changes that AI brought to our industry (either positive or negative). This game is an essay on it. Because of its narrative, that I hope you'll like, I decided to make it entierly with the help of AI (full stack below).
However, the story and game design have been fully designed and written by myself.
I tried my best with the Inverse Kinematics, yet, it takes a lot of time to fully polish it, so you may encounter few wrist traumas hahaha.
THERE ARE 19+1 REFERENCES THAT YOU NEED TO FIND IN THE GAME, HOW MANY WILL YOU FIND ? ;) (video games, music, cinema... from easy to nearly impossible)
Cheat code : >"1907461573" while coding skips the whole coding part
I'd love to hear about what you felt playing the game, enjoy !
Put in the comments how many references you found !
*Game Engine :* Unreal Engine 5.8 *3D Engine :* Blender 5.2.2 *Code :* Claude Opus 5.5 *3D Models (through MCP) :* Codex Sol 6.1 *Voice lines :* Inworld TTS 2 *Music :* Suno v6-mini *Game Design and narration :* Miro
*PS : A small fix to give players the refs list and allow them to quit the game during an other jukebox song has been added*
A very striking take on AI, the goal is obviously to share a glimpse of what could be our near future regarding development, and to what extent traditional coding is an old tech or will soon be.
Graphics have some quirks but the overall picture is pretty nice, partly thanks to the grayscale choice and other post-process effects.
Trying to find all the easter eggs was a lot of fun, some of them are pretty nicely hidden (hello black ops)!
The end feels a bit underwhelming but a couple more hours could probably have solved that.
Great job on this project! The visual style and audio fit together really nicely, creating an awesome vibe. Super impressive execution within the jam deadline! Left my ratings! Feel free to check out our cat bomb-crafting game when you have time. You can try the updated alternative version I put together (fixed mechanics + working PC): https://naiper.itch.io/meow-bomb-by-naiper
I see a lot of work you put into this game! graphics are insane, animations also, that appearance of items - brr! but I found dialogues and pacing a bit too slow. Though I certainly like your project very high!
Coding itself becoming the old tech is a clever angle on the theme, and the grayscale look and hidden references sound great. A slightly faster pace for the dialogue might help. Interesting take!
