Forgotten Tech

Play it, here

Goal:

Figure out how to solve the puzzle. There are no hints, so you'll need to rearrange the tiles on the board until you work out what to do.

Mouse controls:

- Click and drag: pick up and move tiles
- Release: drop tiles

Tools I used:

- Code: Defold
- Graphics: Aseprite, Figma
- Sfx: Microphone
- Music: 1BitDragon
- AI: None

Yay! I won! Really clever actually, I was confused when the tiles stopped coming.

innovative and fun twist on puzzle games! though it was just a tiny bit too difficult for me(

Very cool puzzle idea and execution! Getting the parts to match was pretty fun. Also nice work on the graphics and the music. The color palette is very fitting.

Really cool idea! Saw this on TigerJ's stream, great connecting with folks!

(Don't forget to put a link back here on your itch page to make it easier for folks to vote if they find you on itch first!)

I really enjoyed how the core mechanic made me actively observe the board to find a solution. The sense of gradual discovery as you manipulate the tiles until they finally align is incredibly satisfying. Great job creating this focused, puzzling experience!

Failed to finish the game lol. All the tiles look the same, which makes it hard to distinguish, and cost me more time to figure out which one to adjust. Also, the parts overlap, making it even more difficult to tell.

Personally, I think a larger map would be of help, since I can put some tiles apart and figure out part of the puzzle.

Apart from the difficulties, the idea and the graphics are great, I just wish the game could be more friendly.

First I was like "how is that not?!" and then I noticed 😁 So this game makes the player feel very smart, I think you did a great job with that. I was expecting another level, but I can imagine that the novalty wears off after the first one, so I think it is a wise decision to keep this one sweet and short. After refreshing the page, I tried "the thing" again (keeping this vague) and it worked. No idea if that was intended, but I think it's neat

I wish there was a "reload" button, because I messed up several times. Also, like brimstone said: it was a bit confusing at first that the tiles stopped coming

@wouter52

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, that was totally intentional. I once watched a video where Jonathan Blow talked about solving a puzzle a second time once you know the shortcut, and for some reason, that stuck with me.

Your feedback has taught me a lot about how to improve it. I wanted to test it over the weekend, but I’m pretty slow at making games, so I ran out of time. Still, I’m really happy with what I accomplished. I’ve grown as a game designer, and yup, my original goal was to make you feel smart.

And thanks again! I remember you from past Ludum Dares. You’re a really nice person, always bringing good vibes and positivity to this community. People like you are what make LD so special.

@josemwarrior ahw thank you! I feel flattered 😇
I think LD should be something we should cherish. Bringing good vibes to the community is my way to make sure people feel welcome and to let them grow as developers
