About

Fool your friends by altering words in famous text passages! Players "hide" in a paragraph of text by changing a word, and the seeker tries to find the alterations.

I thought I would take a risk and shoot for an online multiplayer game this time! Now that it's over, I don't think I'll ever do it again. But I hope you enjoy.

If the server is down, please send me an email at [email protected] and I'll fix it!

Controls

As hider:
- Click on a word to select it
- Type text to change the word
- Your word needs to be different enough! No changing only capitalization, or changing "going" to "goin'"
- Once you're done, hit "Lock In."

As seeker:
- Click on a suspicious word to shoot it!
- You only have three bullets, but correct guesses do not cost ammo.

There are no points, and the game just keeps looping forever until you quit!

Love the sound and music! Had to open a second tab and play against myself xD
But with friends this would be a blast!
Looks really great too

Played this with a group of friends and had a blast! This is such a good idea for a jackbox type, friend game. We ended up playing for an hour and some change, which shows it's good!

The Bois and i loved this game. the sound of the shot made me go (OOH!) multiple times. this i a great party game. hope to see this with more copy pastas and quotes and such on a full release. OOH! i will say the song lyric ones are super hard. making the quote the chorus is rough.

Fantastic game

A few notes: I wish the enter key would submit your change instead of needing to click the "lock in" button, I found the music to be very quiet, I really wish I could see the end-round mouse-over text at all times to see what my friends had actually changed words to and who did what before the end, you can take you friends hostage by tabbing out and refusing to let the timer run, while it was rather funny the first time there should probably be some check for duplicate prompts coming up, and I reeally wish there was an actual eventual end screen with stats (unless there is one in which case I'd love if that was more easily reachable). Overall though, extremely enjoyable.

@arlius @bigtex @wiredoverload (and presumably @gizmolo and @alchemic from the usernames) - thanks for playing!

This was definitely on the "to-do" list, probably with some kind of scoring that gives you points for the total duration you're able to stay hidden. But at the same time, the game is more about goofing around with your friends than trying to maximize a score, so I didn't feel too bad about dropping it when I had to cut scope. Obviously it's tricky to fit in everything you want in Compo along with multiplayer!

Best of luck to your team for the rest of play and rate!

@jeremy-ryan Yeah I was a part of that! We had a ton of fun! Played for over an hour I think.

I really liked the music and audio. The shot effect is crazy good, it's so visceral lol.

I wish the hiding phase had a few more interactive/realtime elements, but I assume you wrote your own backend for this which is already impressive enough.

I had some dialog with you on the front page and decided to spin by your entry. This is seriously impressive. Such a simple but effective and fun concept. Excellent execution. Extremely good job with this.
