What an entrance! I started by making a ship building game yesterday, of course it was overscoped and I burned out like 10 hours ago, then I ate lunch and rested a while and came up with this little game, it is simple to make thanks to Godot's recent IK update but the rigidbody lowkey bugs and I had to do a lot to make it happen good night everybody~ 😴
Incandescent light bulbs are simply just resistors, which turns electricity into pure heat, when heat goes so high it emits light (almost like how fire works but slower).
It burns so they melt eventually, making them shorter and slimmer, a reconnection will however, lit it up again.
found myself reparing broken lightbulb for 15 minutes straight. Now thats an expirience! Still couldn't get it to work properly, but I think I'll keep trying.
@indigowolf so true, the old ones generate not only light but also a nice warm heatwave, that experience had long gone... People really should use warmer colored leds more, the cold ones feels depressed
this is such a tactile little idea, bringing a dead incandescent bulb back by physically swaying it and trying to balance the filament is weirdly satisfying. the moment the light slowly comes on is genuinely lovely, and the whole thing fits the old tech theme perfectly. how did you tune the filament motion so it feels fiddly but still fair? really nice experimental piece.
@perrarancino appreciated! About the motion, the filament is an ik bone, it tracks a invisibal rigidball, which is free to move inside a circle ( circle's center is the connected side of the filament). Basicly the ball gives it a random-ish end position and ik gives it the vivid reactions

If you really don't know this old tech, here's a random video I just found on youtube https://youtu.be/lwgKSHF6X1A?si=VOhKqaGo_BBGGCJp

sadly it's so short to play!
Really conceptual piece, nice job
