Long Wave Home

The Game

Long Wave Home is a metroidvania-lite, where you're Squeaks, a cute little mouse who wants to repair an old radio for the owner of the home. She'll have to avoid dust bunnies, silverfish, maybe even the owner's cat as she attempts to get the radio making music again.

Made for Ludum Dare 60. Theme: "Old Tech".

For the theme, "Old Tech" I used it in two ways, Squeaks repairing an old radio, and a few easter eggs to my old games. For the old radio... I am not a radio repair technician, so... I assume they had vacuum tubes, knobs, and definitely little platforms a mouse could use to walk around in.

Very cute game! The contols were a bit difficult for me, maybe map juming to `W` to simplify the `IOJKL` section 😄 And the textboxes with explanations were displayed too short for me. But I enjoyed the different boss fights you managed to implement. Almost missed the entry to the part after the spider. It took me a moment to understand the cat fight, but it was fun and the end scene was nice. Good work!

The mouse is soo cute! The textboxes displayed for too short of a time but otherwise the game was pretty cool!

Controls were not that intuitive, tutorials were displayed too short. Beated the game, but cat fight logic made no sense. Hower overall game is very good, i especially loved the effect of music gradually gradually coming to life and controls reminders when you stand idle. Good Wwrk!

The controls were a little odd, not necessarily bad, just different. It took me a minute to get used to them.
The text boxes weren't displayed long enough, it was hard to read them before they disappeared. Maybe you could have some sort of dismiss once the player read it all (so like, "Click 'U' to dismiss/continue").
Other than that, the game was great! I loved the idea, it was very cute. The level progression was very good and the different ideas in the game were great.
