old-tech-recovery
A fun little meta rougelike about old games.
Primary inspiration beyond the genre is Rogue 1980.
Includes lots of swearing.
Play without downloading:
https://mkfour.itch.io/old-tech
Controls are listed in the game.
F1 for debug/cheat menu if you want to make things easier.
Find some good arcade music to put on while playing,
I couldn't find a good free use soundtrack :^)

theme approach is solid, graphics are completely related with the theme and awesome.
Congratulations and I hope this game exceeds the jam!
The background ascii effects are beautiful, I really want to learn to make these.
And dialogues were hilarious! :D
I gave it several tries, but when entering combat arenas, they were either very tedious (many enemies, slow attack rate), or downright impossible (I hit the boss for several minutes with the sword and nothing happens). That's too bad because I think there is more content in this game that I don't want to miss.
If you plan to fix this, I'll be happy to give it another go.
If not, that's OK too. What you did was great for a jam either way:)
Also, mfw the debug menu I gated to debug builds wasn't in the release build.
F1 menu is now in the browser version, so if you want to explore the game, press F1 :)
Keeping the windows download the same, so no debug menu there 😄
Very happy to hear you enjoyed it 😄
Wonderful entry all around - you should be proud!
One thing someone brought up for my game was caching and precompiling some shaders, I had a fair few lag spikes when playing I think thanks to a new shader being used for the first time. Thanks for making!
