Oxidize

co-authored: @gloomsys

Description:

A small fast-paced retro platformer about an old but nimble robot that needs to replant a pretty flower into a spot that it will survive in before the robot itself rusts and dies.

The game is focused around the Rusting mechanic where you have 10 seconds to move freely before you start rusting.

The game is themed around retro games that are short and unforgiving.
Additionally, the "Old Tech" theme inspired the old and quickly rusting robot.

Controls:

Arrow Keys / WASD - Movement

Space / W / Up - Jump

Shift / X - Sprint

R - Restart

F11 - Full Screen toggle

Cute graphics and SFX that, while a bit lackluster, get the job done! The controls feel pretty janky for a platformer, though, and the difficulty spikes are quite brutal. Combined with the imprecise controls and near pixel-perfect jumps, the later levels become very hard! I had to skip level 2-1 and sadly couldn't finish 3-2.

Still, a cool game with plenty of charm!

This was a really beautiful little entry. I was impressed with the mechanics from go but cant say I got very far. Nice work all in all.

Well I am definitely no parkour master but man is it still a fun game, so far I only got to the second level, and can't wait to play. I though the fact that you find out that character is an old robot through the rust mechanic after touching water is a really nice show not tell way to use in a game. Great game

Fun game, it's a shame about the small window

Finally managed to beat all the levels and got the

!> pretty flower ^^

at the end. Phew. That was some developer-level difficulty for real. I might've been hitting my desk multiple times, but I persevered. I know other people already mentioned this, but you probably won't hear the end of it 😄

The movement mechanics felt pretty good though! I don't think it was jank, it just required precision. The walljumps controlled well, and the speedups made for some cool moments. They should just be balanced in a way that doesn't fail you at the slightest mistake.

I really liked the environments, visually. And while the sound was minimal, it fit the rest of the world. So all in all, the game was really well done, just a bit too hard.
