Pigeon Post

The internet is gone. Worldwide.
Some blame unusual solar flares. Others say AI agents burned through everyone's daily limits at once.
Whatever happened, people still need to chat, send memes, and order all kinds of junk online.
Luckily, your grandpa left you a small pigeon post office in his will. Now it's up to you to bring the world back to order - one pigeon delivery at a time.
Turns out, the old ways still have a few tricks up their wings.

Really impressive what you managed to create in just a few days!
My first run ended after only two deliveries, with three pigeons dying on missions. My second attempt went better, but I still only managed to deliver six letters before losing again (see screenshot).
Losing pigeons felt frustrating. I'd find it more interesting if they stayed alive and I could later sell the ones with weaker stats to free up space. That would give me more control over which pigeons to keep and how my flock develops.
We originally wanted to focus more on pigeon management, including breeding and crossbreeding the best pigeons, selling the ones with weaker stats, and other little things like that.
Feel free to check out our cat bomb-crafting game when you have time. You can try the updated alternative version I put together (fixed mechanics + working PC): https://naiper.itch.io/meow-bomb-by-naiper
Would love to hear your thoughts!
Cool loop :)
I really enjoyed it!
It looks very charming, and you don’t have to strain yourself to figure out how to play—you can just sit back and have a great time with these cool pigeons. I loved everything about it; there’s nothing I’d even add.
- If the poop wasn't cleaned up, was that making pigeons sick?
- I found a bug that I could click on the egg without it bouncing around if I did so while a pop-up was present.
While I really liked it for the game it was, I played until the thank-you for playing our LD60 game message. I wouldn't be compelled to play again on the account I felt it was only a matter of time to complete/win vs. decisions made to win. A little on-boarding on how to make decisions would help, perhaps saying wings were for distance, then you had the icon for speed, and weight carrying. At least that's how I think it worked out. So yeah, make it harder with decisions that allow me to win or lose based on those.
> But you delivered on an enjoyable game jam experience!
These cute little pigeons and their avatars are my favoite
A couple of things I'd suggest: pigeons seem to die pretty unexpectedly, so it would be nice to have a timer showing how much life they have left. The process of selecting a job, clicking on a pigeon, and pressing Assign also feels a bit tedious. It would be nice to assign pigeons to deliveries more quickly.
It's not entirely clear what the pigeons' perks actually do, so some extra info about them would be helpful. Also, it feels a bit strange when a pigeon dies while you're still trying to pick the right courier, without even getting a chance to fly off on a delivery))
And finally, hatching new pigeons takes quite a while. Maybe there could be a way to speed things up, like clicking on the egg or adding some kind of small minigame?
Overall, I really enjoyed the game! The visuals and sound are awesome, and the whole concept is pretty cool. Good luck with the jam!))
> If the poop wasn’t cleaned up, was that making pigeons sick?
We planned to add diseases that could spread if the room got too dirty, but unfortunately, we ran out of time :)
> I felt it was only a matter of time to complete/win vs. decisions made to win.
For now, I think it's best to treat the game as a short proof of concept. We'd also love to make player choices more meaningful if we get the chance to keep working on it.
> A little on-boarding
>It’s not entirely clear what the pigeons’ perks actually do
Yeah.. It might not always be obvious what each stat or perk actually does. We didn't have time to add a tutorial either, unfortunately.
> Pigeons seem to die pretty unexpectedly
This is one of the main things we're discussing with the team right now.
So far, we've added two tiny hints:
- Day and night change outside the window, following the pigeons' life cycle.
- Older pigeons grow a little beard 😃 If you spot a bearded pigeon, it doesn't have much time left!
> clicking on the egg
Clicking the egg does speed up the hatching process a little, but only by a tiny amount. I guess we should make that more noticeable.
