I love these bag building games. Artstyle and items where pretty cool. I was wondering how a re-roll mechanic in the shop would influence the game. I can see it making the game too easy, but it would also reward getting a lot of (purple) money, maybe?
@morris Good thinking right there! Re-roll was on our list but we wanted at least for now to rely on some randomness and taking the chances when they raise. Thanks for playing!
Until day 15 I thought, I had to close my retro tech gallery for good. But then, I got offered some fantastic vinyl players. No matter the modern alternatives, good old tech will survive! On that fateful final day, the arrangement had been perfected. With three of these exquisite machines, no wonder my reputation went through the roof and therefore, my gallery got awarded the three stars it deserved. Other exhibit highlights were the joystick and the boom box. All time classics and therefore must haves in any good retro tech gallery :). Great game :).
Such a fitting idea for the theme of this jam. Very fancy artwork, matches very well. I liked the different synergies and effects that items had on each other. Everything is incredibly well polished. Great work, congratulations on your entry :).
Nice place to be in. But I didn't get it. I had the feeling that my actions had absolutely no impact on the final result, so I finished 20 days and lost. The game felt like a gacha. But it's still nice place to be in because of music and visuals. Literally a gallery.
Fun little engine building, push your luck sort of game. I'm a bit surprised how much I liked it considering there's both input (shop) and output (displaying items) randomness with very little mitigation. Is it possible for three starred items to never appear in the shop? My first three displayed items on day 20 were starred after trying for it for three days, I wonder if that was luck or a sneakily programmed certainty ๐
@nathmate We left it in hands of Randomness so no sneaky business here! Overall we hoped player to have enough control to not burn the gallery and still manage to survive and taking the chances when they come. Big thanks for playing!
Fun game, beat it on my second try! The graphics are really nice. The mix of heat management and the two currencies works well. Fire felt a bit punishing at first, and the randomness can get intense, but it adds to the tension.
Overall I had fun spending time with it. Heavily reminds me of Party House from UFO50, except the shop is randomised. I think the randomness is interesting, but it felt like I wasn't able to buy many starred items until very late, because they refused to show until then (I still won but felt tight).
I found myself focusing quickly on generating cash (or circles?), as they seemed somewhat rare to generate per card.
@boxofcuriosity I think you have a sharp eye. The core draw mechanic idea came from party house and other bag drawing board games. We wanted to give both resources interesting ways to spend them and hopefully it at least partly worked. Thanks you so much for playing!
@kiddoo I'm blushing now. Yes, some more ways for the player to control the randomness could be fair. Now it is focusing on seeing the opportunities as they come to make gallery business bloom. Thank you for playing!
@notnasiul Yes, at least for this version no card removal as it is one thing more to balance when you think about buying new items. Thank you for playing!
a deckbuilder about keeping a retro tech gallery alive is such a fun pitch, and the bag building twist fits it better than a normal card shop ever could. the items and the artstyle have a lot of charm too, i kept wanting to see what the next day would bring. how did you balance the randomness so the shop still feels fair? really charming little game.

liked the art and the music
it takes a second to get, but it still was a fun experience

I like your art, the music is nice and suiting - well done!

Reminds me a bit the game design from Party House (UFO50 game collection), do you know this game ?
