I was aware people would (as I had that idea as well) come with the idea to invent their own ancient tech. But this was unexpected in my book! I like the art, how it points at people controlling AI robots and the game mechanic in very fun (this is my first rating this LD60). The focus lays on controlling the thing, the tix tac toe game with the continue rules was less focused on which fits this one. Nice game! Though I do not see myself playing this longer then a few minutes, as there was little different for me.
It looks just like the ancient mosaics here in Cyprus :) It also reminds me a bit of Potion Craft. It took me 2-3 minutes to get used to the controls, but the idea is very cool. Seeing an "ancient" mosaic about a "Roman Robot" was funny too :)
Really awesome take on the theme! I'm a big fan of the graphics too, never think I've seen anything like this. Reminds me a little of Potion Craft's art but that's still way different. Everything else is pretty cool too, although I wasn't a super big fan of the controls. I get the feeling that was the point but it was still a bit meh to me
The blending of advanced robotics with the beautiful mosaic art style is such a brilliant concept. It gives the entire experience a wonderful, unique blend of ancient history and future tech. You've created a really charming and original little gem here.
@kremlebot To win, you need to arrange all 3 of your tokens in a row. On your turn, you can eighter place on of your tokens on the board(if it hasn't been placed already) or if it has been, move it to an adjacent space! Hope this helps:)
@ry0 Thanks! Yeah, it took me quite a while to get the opponent and cheating system to work, so there sadly wasn't as much time left to implement more features:(
@roboolet Yeah, the controls where meant to be a bit weird, but we certainly could have done a better job at making them feel not quite as frustrating. Glad you liked it besides that!
Trully fun game, i find a little hard to cheat with how little time you have, and i don't know what else to do after posing your third piece. Still, really good graphics, funny gameplay, and little music that make me more think of Egypt for no reason.
@isline thx for the feedback ! After you placed your 3rd token, you can move 1 token if there is an empty space next to it ! And then try to align them ! Hope this helps ;D
A simple but fun game. Took some time to figure out how the game works, but as soon as I figured it out, I realized there is a sure-to-win solution. So it became clear I just need to do certain moves and I will win in the 4th move. The impossible level also just reduces the time, making the game too easy for me.
@crotonyl-alcohol Really? We're aware of ways to guarante victory on easier difficulties, but we don't know of any that'd work in impossible... So Congrats on breaking our game I guess lol Balancing the difficulty was really hard, as some people seem to find the controls really hard while others get used to them really quickly. Hope it was still fun!
a robot secretly built to win at an ancient board game is such a fun premise, and hiding the inventor inside it gives the whole thing a great con artist energy. pushing your own token around makes a simple game of three in a row way more interesting than it has any right to be. did the chess turk inspiration come first, or did the rota idea come after? really clever little game.
@perrarancino Yeah, we came up with the chess turk idea first. Programming a whole chess engine and bot would have been SLIGHT overscoping XD (The Enemy logic still took me forever to get right even though Rota is of course waaay simpler than Chess, though that might just be a skill issue) and normal Tick Tack Toe would have been a bit too simple, which eventually lead to Rota (You'd have to ask @myheadmess how she came up with it, I had never heard of it before she suggested it)

Thx for the comment !
But trying to control this robot arm is frying my brain..
the art is beautiful, the music is a little repetetive
and it got pretty hard
nice job!

Simple and polished idea. Well done.
See you on the next one!

EDIT: Sorry, it sent the comment twice for some reason and I can't delete it😅
