The Mushroom Boy is a short horror experiment. You are a boy lost in a forest where mushrooms are not just plants — they are alive, and they demand payment. Collect, survive, and meet your quota… before the forest decides you’ve given enough.

the low-res PS1 forest with the pixel-shaded hand and the basket is genuinely unsettling, great look. a countdown with a mushroom quota is a simple tense loop. didnt see the old tech link beyond the retro rendering
932 - not bad for high score i guess. Visuals are nice, but i would like wider picking cursor for mushrooms. feels bit clunkcy to collect. Noice overall
the game is fun but...it feels very AI and i'm not the biggest fan of this..maybe i'm wrong and in that case let me know. Also a trypophobia warning would have been nice.
The Mushroom Boy is a short but interesting horror experiment. I enjoyed playing it, although the theme is not fully clear. The game has an atmospheric feel and keeps you on edge. If you like horror games, it's worth a try.
I found the collection mechanic interesting and really liked the distinctive visual style! It was quite difficult for me, though: after three attempts, my best score was only 163. I would have kept playing longer if the opening rounds were easier and the difficulty increased more gradually. That would give me more time to learn the mechanics before the challenge ramps up.
A very good concept ! I loved the blend of survival, stress, and organizing the basket. The only drawback is that I don’t really see the connection to the theme, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Someone recommended this game in the comments, so I gave it a try. Whoever came up with the greenish fog fading into the distance really knows how to create atmosphere. It makes the visuals look incredibly interesting. The subtle texture some distance from the camera adds to the effect. I haven’t seen a style quite like this before, and I really like it.
I didn’t play very well and ate relatively few mushrooms. I tried to eat more, but just running around looking for them was fun. I also love the sound of clearing fallen leaves. It’s satisfying and makes me feel like I’m actually brushing leaves aside.
For a Ludum Dare game, this is incredibly well done. Great work. I don’t know whether the graphics are procedural or hand-drawn, but the overall style is fantastic. If I saw a GIF of this on Twitter, I’d definitely click.
Strong mood, great visuals. It ran a bit choppy when not looking at the ground even though I have a strong gpu, but it was still playable. Liked the variety of mushrooms, fun to rake leaves to find stuff. Great work!
The idea of the mushrooms demanding a quota is a super clever way to frame the horror. The combination of that looming threat and the retro pixel aesthetic creates a really distinct and tense atmosphere.
I don't really feel the theme on this, but it's a neat little game. I appreciate that it's rounds are short, controls are well done and that it feels polished overall.
