I've never made this kind of puzzle game for LD, or ever. I tried scattering enough hints, but if I did a bad job, here are some answers to get you unstuck.
How do I escape the starting room?
!> The door has a small gadget attached to it. You might notice that if you hold the Pong handheld near it, the LED lights up. Score one point in Pong while standing near the gadget to open the door.
How do I open the display cases on the circular table?
!> The placard on most cases has an icon that matches a symbol on one of the handhelds. (For the other one, you can find a tape with a hint.) Get the score indicated on the placard in that game to open it.
How do I open the cash register?
!> Trigger the gadget on the "Murderman" standee by scoring 5+ points in Tetris nearby. Keep standing near it with the Tetris handheld to spawn an X pentomino. Stand near the cash register as you clear the X pentomino to open it.
What are the "++" symbols?
!> You'll find a couple "expansion packs" to games; attach them to the bottom of the handheld with the matching symbol to play the "++" version of that game.
What is the "Σ" symbol?
!> The answer to that is on the tape held by the giant claw.
How do I reach the tape held by the giant claw?
!> Play the rhythm-game handheld near the gadget behind the claw to gradually lower it.
How do I find the "++" version of the game in the third display case?
!> The tape that comes with it says "jump and give me 20 — wait for it — now!" There's a beacon attached to the desk under the tape player. With the tape playing, play the jumping game and reach 20 points as the voice says "now!"
How do I play the weird turn-based game with the circles?
!> An obtuse answer to that is on the tape on the shelf in the middle of the store.
What are all those squares in a grid on the placards?
!> In Tetris, get a tetris (clear 4 lines at once) to open the case with the 4x11 grid of squares.
How do I open the final case?
!> A gadget attached to the side of the arcade machine will replace any I piece that drops on the Tetris board with an extra-long 5-square I piece. Use it to get a pentris (clear 5 lines at once) to unlock the key case.
