DONE!!!!!!!

Please try it, the colors were messed up but it works i think.

OK and, here is an updated version. This was the same gameplay balance and so forth as the above (no major changes) but I fixed the bugs:

I only got 12 hrs to spend on this thing, sadly. I need to plan for these deals a little better. Anyhow, I also am tweaking and adding music and so forth because it's actually somewhat of a fun little game, I'll post updated versions here. I guess if you wanted to use the above one to vote it would be fair because it's only 1hr20mins more work than the first one, but don't vote on the one below because I've spent a lot of extra time on it:

Old news...

I'm at my Gf's place and typing on the Wiki. I hope that you guys can get this to work, basically I had it all working with PNGs but in the end, i didn't have SDL_image built for mingw and it's such a pain to get configure to work properly, etc. So the net result is that, bleh, i had to change to TGA and use a custom TGA loader that I had. So I must do a confessional here and type in all the ways I cheated:

FORGIVE ME SINNER FOR I AM YOUR FATHER. HERE IS MY CONFESSIONS OF CHEATING: 1. i used an rngen class based on mersenne twister. i could have used rand() but i have in the past had weird problems with that under mingw and I had this sitting around (rngen.*) 2. i used a tga file loader that I had prepackaged (loadtga.*) 3. i used some error reporting file (die.*) 4. i copied over teh code for setting up the GL mode from another project

I don't think these are too cheaty. I even had to code the whole *ing font system, bleh! If I get home soon enough tonight I might be able to sort out the color issues, otherwise I won't!

The text is rather humourous, and this also makes it somewhat fun to play. I find the interface quite innovative, it's not what you usually see in LD48 games. Production, I played the linux version, and I couldn't figure out how to quit, or how hungy I am. But, there's at least instruction which tell you that you can click on things - something I think I would have figured out, given there's a mouse pointer Graphics are all hand-drawn, even the fonts, it gives the whole game a distinctive style.

Seems some people were determined to do the farm theme regardless of how the vote turned out... oh well, that's legal Grow crops, eat, harvest, sell and buy. It's not bad actually, I could see myself wasting some time with this provided that it didn't crash after one season... I got all the way round to buying new seeds but then it just quit (there was some assertion failure in the stderr). The gameplay is sufficiently simple and effective, just click on things. Graphics are simplistic but cool. Could have used some more exclusive/expensive seed types to provide a long-term goal, and maybe some environmental factors to battle (like pestering bugs, drought, flood etc).

Crashed on me after I were at the market, could've made higher scoore if I could play it more. Have the same farming syndrome as mine, not much to fight for. LOL!. I don't wanna be a farmer, I just happen to sing very well

Funny story and unique gameplay. The play balance could use some tweaking.

The story was fun, but the game itself wasn't much to speak of. It seemed like it may have had more to offer, with the hunger and well-likedness and that, but then the game just quit after the first season, so I guess I'll never know. Update: Just noticed the fixed version, so figured I'd try that. The game no longer quit after the first season, but the gameplay still wasn't very fun.

It is more fun than it seems from the screenshots. It has pleasant graphic interface.

Cheating! -1 Not much to play, I guess a farming sim remake...

The game was very fun and well done, and a slightly different take on the "harvest sim" game. With the newer fixed version I give it all around good marks

I really rather enjoyed the text and backstory for this one. I especially enjoyed getting hungry and eating peasants. Well-written, funny stuff.
The only problem is that your game mechanic is literally watching flax grow. =] It's slooww. I don't find that the game really encourages me to reach any particular goals, but then the text encourages me to just chill out, so that's fine. I just wish there was a little more to do than wait. Maybe fertilizing to produce better crops that sell for more?

Seems an interesting game, but it ends after season one for me. Should it not continue? I like the story, though.

A very straightforward farming game, except perhaps for the story which made me guffaw. I was hoping for something more after making some progress. My farming ambitions evaporated quite quickly. It didn't help that the game ran a bit slow on my machine, making the process of distributing seeds etc. quite tedius. But I can only mark my machine down for that.

Drops dead after you buy seeds for the second season, kind of limiting the play value... too bad, because I was looking forward to more farming. It's really too simple to be much of a game but it's kind of fun in its own way. I was curious whether hunger was an actual factor when I tried eating a spoiled plant and ended up hungrier than before. I have a feeling it's not, though.

Nice farming concept.

Funny idea and seems to be somewhat good as a game. Graphics are harsh and text is hardly readable:) Neat effect on clicked texts gives it some flavor!

SDL.DLL not found Worked though after I found a spare one somewhere.
As below, a farming theme when it looked like farming was going to be the main theme just before the start... So I'll just give average marks.

A decent farming-type game, click on the barn to plant stuff and watch them grow. You can then eat the stuff once it has grown or sell it. Not sure if the hunger element has anything to do with the gameplay. Graphics are fine, no sound though. I was expecting another level, but it came to an end so soon.

Not really my kind of game, all the text was a bit too long winded for my liking, very strange storyline After I lost all my crops I didnt know what to do, the peasants hated me. Really not my kind of game.

This was quite a funny game. I didn't really get the point of it but the texts were amusing and there was some element of gameplay available. I never ran out of flax seeds though. I wonder what happens when you do nothing at all.. hmm..
