Afraid of the Dark

I can hear them moving all around me. I try to carefully pick my way through their nest. I think one of them has heard me. I move faster, stumbling into something in the dark. The noises stop. I freeze. Something inches closer, sniffing the air. I feel its breath on me. It sniffs again, then howls. I bolt away, into the darkness.
