Sphere Hunter
My Ludum Dare debut is this mini-game for Amiga 500.
For the extra challenge, I decided to make a game that would fit in its entirety in a bootblock, that is, one kilobyte. All code, graphics and sound are contained within this space.
This space budget naturally results in a rather simple game, but I have tried as best I could to give it somewhat interesting gameplay, while keeping the graphics and sound (relatively) tolerable. The size obviously doesn't leave any space for luxuries such as a game menu or score display. :)
The object of the game is to capture the fiery spheres by pushing stones around. If a sphere is confined so it cannot move, it dies. If a sphere catches you, you die. The different kinds of spheres move in different ways, so study them carefully and plan your attack.
Control the game using a joystick in port 2. The game is best played on real hardware (of course), but you can use an emulator as well: Download an Amiga emulator, such as WinUAE, start it in an Amiga 500 configuration, or any other configuration for that matter (WinUAE quickstart configurations work fine) and choose the supplied ADF file as the disk image for floppy drive DF0. The game will start just a moment after the disk starts booting.

I've never used an Amiga or Amiga emulator before, so it took me a minute to figure it out (numeric keypad is joystick 2 by default, for those wondering). But once I got into the game, I was pretty impressed. Especially to have been done in just 1k! I'm assuming you generated some aspects of the graphics dynamically, since those would have really eaten into your space pretty quickly. Plus you had audio! The gameplay itself is a bit tricky to pull off without getting hit, but I like the concept behind it. Overall you did a great job within the restraints you set for yourself.
