Ants Like Us

Ants Like Us is a simple RTS game. You battle against a few AI players for resources (cakes!!).
Instead of controlling ants, you only get to choose which ants to spawn next: Resource gatherers and warrior ants.

The goal is to eradicate all enemy ants. Keep an eye on your food resources, as your ant population needs to eat too!

Cannot open the game on Windows 10. "This application was configured to use a bundled Java Runtime Environment but the runtime is missing or corrupted." So please bundle the runtime correctly and let me play your game :)

Ok, I uploaded the windows release again. When unzipping, make sure "jre" is also unzipped.

Haha, this is a little bit addictive, probably because it feels a bit like a game of chance. Nice concept. Now trying to figure out if there's an optimal strategy or another way to influence where ants go (e.g. do they emit pheromones, do army ants tell each other about threats, etc).

Hi. The gatherer ants emit pheromons for food, path to home base and danger. The warrior ants roam around and trace danger and attack closest enemy.
There's a fair bit of chance involved - the more "cakes" are nearby, the better the chance to actually win.

Anyhow, great game! I had many many problems with the fact that the game was too "tall" for my laptop's display, but besides that it's a cool game.

You lose if all your ants are dead (those wandering around, not those cocoon - even if you have enough food left.

Interesting game. The AI works well enough for it's intended purpose, the graphics are good. The only downside I would say is that gameplay isn't super fun. The only thing the user can do is spawn gatherers or warriors, not really control the ants or manage the colony.

It looks interesting but I couldn't scroll down since the game was to tall for my screen and resizing the window didn't help...

Also I'm not sure about the game play... Can you control the ants somehow?

You can't control the ants. You can only spawn 2 ant. I didn't have enough time, but I actually wanted to add a form of indirect control where you could spray pheromons that would attract ants.
I'm sorry about the screen size thing, I kind of hard coded the size of screen :(
