It certainly works well enough although there isn't too much game there. I look forward to your more ambitious projects should you choose to pursue them. As for the mechanics of this game, it's a bit clunky that the mouse is needed to respawn but the arrow keys are needed in game, it would be nice if there was just a "Push any button to continue" or even like press up or space to respawn.

It's a challenging game. I wish you could save your colony tier points to buy upgrades.

I have to agree with @Linkeagle, you should allow the player to start and shop without the mouse. Also, there is a problem if both arrow keys are held down. The last key held down should give the direction of the ship.

I like that you went with simple shape graphics, it's easy to make and clean.

I liked having the source code next to the game. That made it bit more of a game for me (tweaking variables to fudge the system).

Tricky game! I like the style and the mechanics, both. As for stuff to buy in the shop, maybe a time-warper that gives you two seconds of slow motion. :)
