Ostsiedlung

This game is from the old Ludum Dare platform. You can try viewing the original page on Web Archive

DISCLAIMER : These vaguely compiled lines of code do NOT deserve the title of "game". Maybe a game's skull...maybe...
Unfortunately, I was unable to merge several parts of the code in time (I'm not even talking about the //TODO part ), so there is NO available gameplay in the current build whatsoever(Sorry.)

Also this is my first attempt at making a game. This was definitively too ambitious for such a tight schedule.

To be honest I'm not sure that this game-being in such an non-finished state deserves its place here.

I spent way too much time creating some content which basically is useless ( the map files were done by hand, and so were the data files ) while I guess i should have been more focused on implementing actual game features :/

ABOUT THE "GAME" : "Ostsiedlung" is a German term meaning "east settling", which is used for describing the cultural and social changes in Central Eastern Europe during the High middle Ages, while German Speakers settled in both the countryside and founded new cities under German Laws. Excepting the notable case of the Teutonic Order's Crusades, those changes happened peacefully for the benefit of both the Slavic and German populations [this is quite an interesting history subject, but we'll leave the details to the historians]

The Game is about following the Destiny of the House of Ascania, who were Margaves of the Brandenburg Mark at the time from the year 1157 up to the Crisis of the Middle Age (circa 1390), using this power you'll use the influx of settlers as a political tool to fulfill your ambitions of expansion.

HYPOTHETICAL GAMEPLAY : Inspired by Board Games, such as Settlers of Catane and Europa Universalis, the action is taking place on a 500km*300km map which goes from the Holstein peninsula up to the Duchy of Silesia
