Let me tell you about my first Ludum Dare!

SATURDAY:

So basically I started this between open vodka bottles, half drunken beers and some of my best friends yelling around and loud music in my living room. I had invited some of my best friends about a week before and didn’t feel like cancelling. They didn’t mind me too much acting like a sociopath, sitting there, staring at the screen coding my first lines of code…

I can’t help myself but continue playing FIFA 2013 with my friends. As always, the rule is: 1 goal = 1 shot…

I am drunk as hell, didn’t know I would get 8 goals in just one game, anyways, time to code a bit more…

The feeling of warmth and calm spreads, some of my friends, tired from work, already go to bed, I keep on coding.

I give another friends some blankets and we prepare a place to sleep, another guy, the last one awake besides me, starts “Django Unchained”, we watch it, I code…

Amazing, didn’t know I would get that much done in just 3 hours. The basic concept is there, the menu aswell, you even have a character customization, only the graphics suck as hell…

Basically it went on like that. The first people get up, we watch some boring crap on TV, I decide it’s time to go to bed, say goodbye and have an amazingly good sleep until…

I feel great! Luckily I drank enough water, my friends left, I clean up a bit, make myself some bread.

So the past hours are blurry… I remember I felt like a machine, coding, overworked, “Come on, let’s just get this last feature done!”. I need some sleep…

Ahhh! What a great sleep that was! And so little things left to do!

I polish the graphics, create a boss fight, create the last levels, rest is testing a bit.

Spend my time reading others’ posts and watching their livestreams.

First contacts with people again via Facebook, then go for a walk…

Eat something, watch TV and am surprised it’s already so late, surely can feel the jetlack. Listen to good music, talk to more people, check out Unity…

MONDAY

Nothing more to tell here, uploaded the game to Newgrounds, told everyone, celebrated myself!SO basically I was surprised how smooth and well and quick everything went. I never coded that productively, maybe it was because of the little pressure I had, that came just right.
