houseoftrash's LD3 game's Time log
4/5 Initially I was a little put off by the theme as lately I have been more into exploration/action/live interaction than strategy that's more detached from the presentation. But thinking about it more it is probably easier to implement something like this in a short time.
Last time I signed up for one of these, I put up one timelog with some ideas, then got bogged down making even simple placeholder graphics and then trying to learn pygame well enough to do anything, then dropped out. I'm a little torn this time because really what I know best is Director, but I'd rather use something more experimental (for me). hmm...
anyway here's an idea ... I liked the idea of propaganda/influence that didn't make it to the finals.. this would be a playing field where there are a bunch of neutral "people" (cubes or rectangles most likely) and two player controlled people each with a magic megaphone that can be used to win people over. You don't control the megaphone people though, you just have control over what makes them choose which person to go blab at next. oh yeah. The two player characters are two different colors. for each second you blab at a NPC, it becomes maybe 10% filled up with your color or depleted of the enemy color. So you can set your rules like, go to the nearest person with less than 50% your color, etc. Sounds boring and complicated but it would at least be a test of realtime control of rules while still (I think) being on theme.
