Once again this was intended as a compo entry, solo and from scratch, but I ran out of time. I had pretty much all the art and music, but still needed a lot of work on the code. I gave up multiple times, then ended up throwing together this level in a frantic final two hours.
When your beard gets caught somewhere it shouldn't (it happens to all of us) you may need to restart.
Hilarious ending, that amped up your humor rating to 5. I loved it! Great pixel art as always. Music was sick too. Awesome game character animation, and the concept was great. It must be insane to develop a game like this in such a small amount of time. Great work and thanks for submitting even if it was unfinished!
I've been looking forward to this since the beginning. This has a lot of potential and I could see a full game with this if you plan on pursuing it further. I had a lot of fun and found it inspiring. Thanks for the game man and great job for what it is!

Definitely, I haven't seen a better entry for this LD, even considering the game isn't complete and the time to upload the games just ended, because I've already played lots of entries. You're a Pixel God and you know I think that, and the idea for this game is really promising! You should make it a full one, or other's will "have the same idea" haha. You're a genius folk, congrats!
Fantastic - I'd play this, particularly with some work on how you can use the beard for gameplay.
A little bit of work teaching the player how to get the beard swinging would be good, but sharp level design isn't expected in such a limited timeframe.
Very nice take on the theme. As usual, your graphics are amazing as well as your gameplay ideas. I just wish there was more to it, a bit more challenges and such.
This is hilarious the his beard swings around, you made the beard mechanic work really well and I could think of so many other things you could do with it, it would be amazing if you added more levels. PS: you could've added in the 2 button theme as this only uses left right and jump. :D
Loving everything about it, took a bit to get used to the swinging of the beard but finally got the hang of it. Only complaint would be that I would love to heard some sounds and not just music, but great job overall!
Really cool! I thought the beard puzzling was interesting and original, and it worked very well mechanically (which surprised me). Needless to say the art is amazing, and I looooved the little intro sequence. Ok that might be enough praise. Oh, just one more thing - the music was great too, really set up the atmosphere. Ok, that's all :)
I think it's obvious to say graphics are awesome. We know your games now, it's kind of expected. To be honest Fathom was much more than this even though it was also short. I think fun is missing a little bit. Still kind of an original idea with the mechanic. Pity you struggled with code and time. Expecting better next time! :)
This is, like, the third game in a row where I've been like "yeah, this is the best game I've played so far for LD34." Good lord man, that was fun. I love the art. It's SO GOOD. The audio is nice, the idea is both hilarious, fun, and unique for the theme. And I just cannot get over how much I enjoy the beard animation as you move and jump. Good work, 5/5.

The only negatives I can think of are the lack of SFX, and that it is so short.

Clearly beard physics are the future. As always your pixel art is incredible (I would still happily kill to experiment with your pixel art in my game engine) but honestly I feel like it's your music here that's exceptional.

Really liked. Great art, great mechanic, a little bit hard to understand at first. Shame it's really short, but you can make a lot more of this idea if you try it. Congrats!
The music fits perfectly with the game but it would be great to have some SFX. Also the coins doesn't fit perfectly with the game's mood and the fact that the more you pick the more your beard growths, I think it would be much better with some kind of lotion or something like that instead of coins.
Anyway, the game is really polished, fun, innovative and the graphics are almost perfect. I hope you will continue the development and count me as a day one costumer if you release it.
I really liked the game! I think the mechanic is pretty fun. The beard is a little hard to control though, which can lead to some frustrating moments. Graphics are gorgeus as usual.

The core mechanics are a bit shaky, using the bouncy beard as an extension of yourself, while sounding novel, is a bit frustrating in practice for anything other than really simplistic actions. I think maybe if you got more mechanics and variations in, like sticky beard or something, it might be interesting.

Cool idea and in general interesting concept. I enjoyed playing through the game. Graphics and music worked flawlessly together. My one concern would be that the beard and character controls weren't very easy to get right. I'm not sure what exactly felt lacking there, but I couldn't really get the feel. Then of course it would have been great if the game had been longer. But given that it must have been rather tricky to implement that beard mechanics, it is very understandable. Hope you find time to continue work on it.

It ended right as I was really getting engaged in the mechanic. I would be very interested inf seeing what you can do with this idea if you had the time to expand the game.

Amazing game! Yes, it's short, but I played it twice. Really liked the art style (the pirate reminded me of Eric from The Lost Vikings) and then music kicked in and I was taken aback. Fantastic work!
Nice game with good graphics an music. A few sound effects would have been great though. The idea with the growing beard as a tools is very innovative to me and is fun to use. I played in chrome and couldn't notice any problems.
Really love the music. Would be curious to know what tools you used. Graphics were excellent. First time through I couldn't get the beard to do what I knew it had to do to get by the last 2 puzzles and I nearly rage quit, but I gave it a second chance and it worked. Pretty fun little game.
If there is a 6 star for graphics I would give it that! There is so much I could learn from how you did your art. Very simple design but pops right out of the screen. And the beard gymnastics is incredibly creative! Awesome work!

I had some difficulty to activate the button on the roof, and my beard got stuck under a door and i could'nt open it. Except from that this game is perfect.
The game mechanic and artwork stand out a lot in this game. The beard growth is a clever riff on the theme. Particularly great is that I am able to "accidentally" discover that waving the beard around triggers buttons -- but that doesn't mean I don't have to put in a small amount of effort to make it happen. Great gameplay experience. While I would love for there to be more levels and game content (and I hope it will come!), it's a solid and promising start.
I was playing this game, and just before I reached the end, I thought to myself: "I need to shave." A few seconds later, that was shown in the game. This game resonates. This is one of the more original entries. Very well done.

Too bad you didn't have enough time to fully finish this but based on what you've managed to throw together during those last two hours, this is a pretty well polished entry. Absolutely loved the art and sound and the beard growing mechanic was really cool.
Great use of the growing theme! I love your beautiful palette and how the gameplay matches the look of the game. However, some things were lacking as far as game feel. The music was lovely, but I felt that some foley and sound effects would have solidified the experience. Opening chests and collecting coins felt very shallow and meaningless as there was no audio feedback from these events. That being said, that's a minor complaint on an excellent entry. Very lovely game - love the art style and the sea shanty soundtrack. Game is very short and abrupt though, I liked the concept but I don't really feel it was developed enough. I think this would be great if you had the time to work a little bit more on it, keep it up in future!

But you could've afforded to sacrifice some of that detail in favor of more content. LD is always a learning experience in time allocation.
I'd encourage you to develop this into a more full IP later if you get the chance. The idea is really novel.

The music helped build up a nice atmosphere.
The look and feel was quite similar to your previous entry "Fathom".

The beard seems glitchy indeed. It didn't get stuck for me (I made it stuck after), but physics are weird and unobvious. Works well, but not perfect.
