Very cool idea, but not too sure about the implementation. You will very quickly have hundreds of glyphs so we learn practically nothing when playing. On top of that I suspect that when from a puzzle to the next we stumble upon the same glyph it does not represent the same letter right?
Yup @Rico The Jammer, the glyphs do not persist across levels. They're entirely symbolic. Just thought it would be fun to contribute to a library of symbols that other people would be playing with
Cute concept. The glyph making works well enough, and seems to have a wide diversity of non-dick drawings in its database now :)
These sort of ciphers work best for long phrases, like the quotes you have set up. Titles of games or films were a bit more frustrating since I might not recognize them. Though having a puzzle consist of about half dozen different short phrases might work too.
The UI is simplistic but works. To keep with the ancient theme, you may have wanted to use a brighter and darker sandy brown. Just a personal preference though.
Really neat puzzle game! The idea of crowd sourcing glyphs was amazing at first but I think I've got my fair share of genitals now http://puu.sh/qSrVm/5f6679bfe0.png xD.
Also this is probably my fault but I was incredibly reliant on hints. Without a starting couple of letters, just the hint "movies" and the layout _____ ______ doesn't give me any ideas, since anything could be anything. Its like hangman without knowing if you got the letter wrong.
I do really like this. The community generated glyphs are a very neat thing, even if it's a bit annoying to have to repeatedly try and draw something new.
Neat idea, I wonder if autofilling all the spaces that use the same glyph takes some of the challenge out of it. There's also no feedback for when you've entered something incorrectly, could make you more careful when entering letters. Overall a cool idea and interesting twist on a classic word puzzle.
The crowd sourced glyphs are what really makes this a cool game for me :D I am not a huge fan of hangman style word games, but this little twist saves it ;)
Interesting, creating crowd source glyph. I wonder is there any algorithm to censored a not neat glyph. Or may be a "flag" feature is good for flagging the not neat image.
This game looks great. It isnt too complicated and is a cool idea that is very appealing. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this game and how creative it was. Overall it was a very great game. 10/10 would play again.
Ooh, I love seeing games make use of user-generated content like this. Would be awesome to be able to see a library of all of the glyphs people have made.
Hi, Bogden! You-ve asked me about stop motion animation. Well, it's not so hard, if don't need a transparent background. Otherwise, you will need a uniform background for photos and skills of working with chroma key. I use "bluebox" plugin for the Gimp. Creating character animation for "No Man's Clay" took about two hours (including modeling, filming, processing, and import to Unity3D).
@TeamPoops what browser are you using? Should be working on Firefox and Chrome.

Ohh, this is a novel approach to user-generated content. It's quite interesting as an experiment in its own right.
But... there's no way to deduce your way through any of the puzzles, is there? Like, it doesn't seem to give any kind of feedback about the correctness of your guesses, so trying to figure out any glyph comes down to randomly getting everything right. There doesn't seem to be a Hangman-like penalty either, you only get to request a hint (and that feels like cheating).
@Jwatt this type of puzzle is known as a cryptogram. You're able to solve it using letter frequency and order clues, based on the glyph representations. Here's a website that explains them: http://www.cryptograms.org/
For instance, if the puzzle was "THEY GOT THE THING", the cryptogram might be "BQLE JUB BQL BQRWJ". The big hint here is the sequence "BQ". It occurs three times, and "TH" is the most common digraph in English. So you can try that out and see how the puzzle looks. "TH__ __T TH_ TH___".
From there, you can see that the three-letter word "TH_" is almost certainly "THE", which gives you "THE_ __T THE TH___".
After that, it's mostly guessing and checking, with the last clue being that the first letter of "__T" matches the last letter of "TH___".
Hope that helps!

I'm impressed at how such a simple concept can be expanded endlessly by user input alone. I like how users trying to get hints only further feed the beast. That's quite clever. I'd really like to know at some point just how many glyphs were created. Keep up the good work! :D
I'm very enthusiastic because I enjoy playing with ciphers with my kids!
The puzzles really need to be longer passages of text. If you download random books from project gutenburg, for example, and take paragraphs out of them, and show glyth frequencies, then ... :)
Interesting idea, I love the option of creating glyphs. It is unfortunate that the nature of the game makes it so you will prettymuch always need a 'hint' or probably a few.
Simple crypto style puzzle game. The crowd-sourced glyphs is a neat concept. It could lead to some problems, like people creating the same glyph repeatedly. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say. It's a good implementation!
After revisited this now that there are significantly more glyphs, I can say that the crowd-sourcing aspect is extremely cool. Also, after playing for a while, I think an option to pick the category would be a really great addition.
Would be nice with more music/sound/theming to add some mood. As for the puzzles, it can be almost impossible to start solving without a few clues. I suppose you could trial and error the letters and see if legible words come out. The glyph making is nice and fast which is really cool.
Gorgeous! I love the generation method, at the two bit, small canvas glyphs is a great way to save on space! I could make mine as detailed as I liked without worrying about squashing your server!
I like the games with simple idea/concept and I think this is one of them. This can be a good entertainment in mobile devices for the downtimes. You should use the right click to white color, or hotkeys to change color quickly. The UI is perfect. This kind of game does not need anything else.
It's a great idea! I hate crossword puzzles, but this experience busting letters a pleasant surprise. The opportunity to invent their own character - as icing on the cake. =)
Cool idea to replace the now traditionnal 'wait for an hour or pay to access the next level' by an art contribution to the game. With a user login system you could add some nice community features :) Work well on windows but I encounter a problem on android touchpad : the virtual keyboard show up but input does not work.
Nice idea and quite good execution. I would suggest maybe give lists of games / movies to find rather than just one. With just one word and no repeating letter, I feel like the purpose of the game is defeated. I definitly had most fun on long quotes.
Also, it would be nice to have multiple alphabets across the game, so you can take notes, have an easier time and complete your notes ;)
Awesome concept ! letting players create their glyphs to add up to the pool as the game gets played by more and more people is really well thought out !
had fun creating glyphs, although i couldn't manage to solve any puzzle since there are so many glyphs now :p

Still: very cool idea.
If you do, that's awesome!
Either way, really nice game!
and this kind of puzzles.
I spend quite a bit of time playing it,
thanks for making it :)
and when you say create it indeed create lol
very good idea and execution :D
Great idea of crowdsourcing the glyphs, though!

Good concept by the way. Thumbs up!!
to improve it I think it may be a little better if it starts with some hints, so it goes a title faster.
I wish the glyph creation was a little smoother to use (maybe just higher resolution?)
Clever game though!

Am I missing something?

but hey well done ! nice entry :)
