Ludum Dare #37compo
37 Hours In A Room
This is my first game in ludumdare. The rules are simple. All you need to do is survive inside the room within 37 hours (or 10 minutes in real world). There are carnivores out there! Be sure to lock yourself up by patching and fixing doors. Also, there will be no action without a weapon. So, grandpa has one big chainsaw. Either kill, run, or lock yourself in one tiny room. It;s your choice.

The graphics are pretty good. I like the zombie sprites. The music, on the other hand...
As for music, try to make sure that the notes are in the same scale, that makes it far more listenable - in Reaper (technically free) you can toggle scales on the midi sheets, so maybe check that out. sfxr is a lifesaver for sound effects.
1. 10 minutes is incredibly long for an LD game. Most people will only give you 1 minute of their time.
2. If you have it last for 10 minutes, you need some spectacular finish rather than "You win" message.
3. It doesn't matter if you are good at writing music. LD players will appreciate badly written music and sound effects more than a 2 second loop.
4. Check out Vlambeer's video on "Game Feel" (caution, there is profanity). If you had faster responsiveness, enemies with less hitpoints, and more enemies, this game would become very exciting.
I'm not sure what I was doing, a lot of the time it seemed the input did nothing, other times it seemed to do something but I wasn't sure what.
- The graphics of the game was great! :)
- The game fits the topic as well
- It lacks sense a bit - why do we keep killing the monsters? It does not really do any good for the player and does not provide anything new to play with - you can add some powerups in your next LDs, for example Speed Boost, One hit kill, All walls repaired and similar (it is a game - you can do ANYTHING! :) )
Keep up the good work and I hope to see more of your work in future :) Good luck!
Some things to try: Chord progressions, scales, arpeggios.
Easy way to play around in a single scale is to use only the natural notes ABCDEFG, not any of the sharps A# B# etc. That's either the A minor scale, or the C major scale, depending on where you start. You can make chords by playing three of those notes and skipping a note inbetween each. example: Cmajor = CEG, Gmajor = GBD, Aminor = ACE. Arpeggios are just when you play the notes in a chord, but instead of playing them simultaneously, you play them separated into a pattern. Also, a fun scale to play around in is the pentonic scale: ACDEG it's really easy to make stuff sound cool using just those notes :)
The enemies get stuck on walls. To solve this you could make all walls destructible, or move the enemy to the closest opening before moving toward the player (if the player is in the house).
Just FYI after all my doors were broken down I was able to hide in the corner and the zombies(?) were unable to get to me.
