Tea Time

by acuity
Tea Time is really simple Rock Paper Scissors "card game" with weighted rewards! I couldn't quite figure out how I wanted to fit with the theme, so I went with "you're in one room with a friend, dueling to the death over tea."

QWE IOP for controls like my previous game for LD35.
Attack deals 3 damage, Parry deals 6 damage, and Tea heals for 2.

Attack your friend when they drink Tea for 3 damage!
Parry when they attack to block and counter for 6 damage!
Drink tea when they parry to heal for 2!

I wrote the song in about 3 hours using FL Studio, it's available on my SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/acuitynpc/teatime

Notes: I originally had grander plans for this, but I ended up screwing up my sleep schedule and got to only spend about 12 hours total working on this. I borrowed much of existing code from my LD35 entry which I think is a more interesting game.

I'm really happy with how the art and the music turned out - granted, maybe I could've written the simple AI I was envisioning if I didn't get sidetracked fixing up a lot of the melodies in the song in the last 2 hours before submission...

I'm working on AI for a post-compo version!

I played this one with my sister, and we had quite a bit of fun. The cards were a bit confusing as to how their effects worked, but that was mostly due to the the amount of damage. Anywho, I understood it better towards the end.

The graphics are alright; the music is nice. Piano is appropriate for a teatime game. I'm just not really sure about the bass being appropriate for a game this simple, but I'm sure with some added features it'll fit in just fine. :P
