TBH, it's a TBH (Turn-Based Hunting game. You can see where I got the title from ;))
Honest Hunting is a turn-based puzzle hunting game where you play as the hunters and attempt to hunt the deer within the turn limit and without them running away. This is the first time I've made a game using Unity, and I'm quite proud of what I managed to do with such little time. I also think the art is pretty good, at least compared to what I'm usually able to make.
Left click on a hunter to select, select tile to move to that tile. Right click to deselect hunter (Deselect hunter before selecting a different one to not bug out the game)
When selecting, clicking on the deer will shoot it (click on the tile that is highlighted in red, not the deer itself.)
Red hunter shoots horizontally and vertically and Green hunter shoots Diagonally (It's a bit weird because the game is "rotated". When you play you'll see what I mean) and both have a range of 2 tiles.
Stepping on sticks or shooting will startle the deer and they will start running to the nearest exit. You can use this to your advantage and you can try intercept the deer (The deer run in a set pattern, no randomness i.e it is predictable).
Press R to restart the game if it bugs out or whatever.
I really like how this combines kinda... Chess... with stealth and hunting. A lot of mileage out of some simple mechanics. Great job! You sould be proud!
Great idea here, unfortunately the game keeps freezing on level 4, at the start of turn 2. I don't know if I am doing something wrong... I'm waiting to see if you can fix something before leaving my rating
@Yanek Yeah it is a bit buggy... however, there is a solution for each puzzle. If you do one of them wrong, the game bugs out but you can just press R to reset and give it another try ;)
@TheZingThing You were right, I managed to get to the last level playing differently. I didn't understand the whole "exits" thing the first time. May need a clearer indication on the corresponding tile.
I think it had a lot of potential, but there were some little things that made it harder to play. At first I couldn't figure out how to select and kill the deer. I tried moving around and clicking on the deer. I had to read the description of the game to see that you had to select the ground which was not intuitive. It stated that the ground would be red, however the ground was a very pale green.
What was the squiggles on the ground. I thought maybe I wouldn't be able to move to them, but the hunters were able to step on them without any issue.
In the first level while you are trying to learn the rules having a much more extra movement would have been nice or no movement at all to force the player to learn to select the deer to advance.
If you get to polish the game I hope you add help text to the game about the hunters movement patterns and with the tips included in the description here.
Thank you for sharing your game, I look forward to seeing what you make next time.
