As a young Pyromancer you are eager to try out your new found power. So you venture in the the nearby forest... but things really go according to play, do they?
Interesting game... I love the unique approach to the theme, very creative. The UI has a few bugs which made me have to restart the game such as buttons disappearing. Gameplay is difficult, but good difficult as it is fun. Although, at a point it becomes unbeatable as there are way too many trees and no where else to go. This leads to you getting trapped in a corner with no way of avoiding it. I think this happens at around 3000 points, or that might just be me. Music is great for this type of game, and sound effects were a nice touch too. The sprites all looked alright, and the title screen looks great. Solid game!
Hey! I tried the game, it's fine, but I've found some bugs: - I could not get dash to work (space/shift)... how do you do it? - either the audio feedback is late, or the hit boxes / collision detection is off, because I got damaged even when there was nothing nearby - you cannot return from the options menu - main menu button from game doesn't work
Btw, you can update your upload on itch.io as well, it's easier to find the fixed verions that way.
Enjoyed the game! I beat the first level. Is the second level actually possible? Is there a third one? At some point the second level became too difficult for me.
Options make me have to restart the game... Dash is hard to use.I hope DASH Direction is my move direction. The game is too hard(I try to play Level2 many times). If it will be balanced the game difficulty,it would be funny.I think. I try again in Level2.
It was enjoyable but I found the guns felt really ineffective and I didn't get a chance to get into the goo / running out of space mechanic as much as I would have liked. Overall though I had fun when playing the game.
I ran out of space very quickly. I liked the game, although I would the first level to be slightly easier, I couldn't get past 300 points before getting cornered by some moody trees.
-Dash is inconsistent. Sometimes pressing it does not work, even with full stamina
-The hitboxes do not match up with the visuals. Makes the gameplay very frustrating when you're trying to make a really tight dodge, but you don't have the visual information to do so
-Shotgunning a tree at close range causes multiple 'dead' trees to appear
-If you stand in the bottom-left corner of Level 1, the trees don't move
Feedback:
-Dash should go towards player movement direction, not mouse location. It's unintuitive to make the mouse have the purpose of aiming at the trees AND 'movement direction', especially beside the player is already using WASD to control their 'movement direction'.
-UI of the shotgun cooldown should be shown near the player, similar to how ammo is. You should reduce the amount of locations the player has to look at to understand their resources & situation.
-Overall the game is too hard. Specifically, the speed & spawn rate of the trees are VERY high. It seems like the ammo regeneration rate is not enough to deal with them. Most of the time I just end up getting swarmed in about 5~10 seconds. It almost feels like this is a bug (perhaps not using DeltaTime?), or the difficulty is just set really high.
It would be better if the trees were slower, and the first level had a LOT more space to move around in. The green fog has some interesting use cases, like controlling the tree AI to forcefully place the green fog in better locations or stack it on each other. However, the game ramps up to about ~5 trees really quickly, and there's simply not enough space or time to even begin making use of this mechanic.
I liked how the second level had rocks that blocked shots, and a more larger and interesting layout, but again it becomes very overwhelming very fast.
-The damage text pop-up was good. Hitting the trees is satisfying.
It has really well polished visuals and sound, gameplay wise it was a bit clunky and could be improved: - The fence was easy to get stuck on - Enemies and their projectiles had too big of a hitbox - Also the dash doesn't work(?)
Good job on finishing and getting everything done, the sprites and animations are really well done.
Cool game! I especially liked the tree death animation. I had problems with the dash working and I wasn't always sure why I was taking damage. Maybe a visual effect when you get hit (like some bubbles appearing in front of you for the goo) and tighter hitboxes would be helpful for that. I also think a punchier shotgun sound effect would be very satisfying!
Thanks @boopsgames  On the next LD we will be working hard on making even more interesting experience for the player and at the same time making sure the game is much more bug free - unless we make a game about bugs
Took me a few tries to get the hang of it. In the beginning where you show the controls, I wasn't aware the game had started, and was confused when I died. But overall, it was fun to play, bugs and all.
@sachay, @yamifive and @himadri-sekhar-mahanta Thank you for your feedback - we will definitely work on a more smooth player experience in our next Ludum Dare game
Nice little game with a pretty aesthetic - the voice is cute. The gameplay is simple but it needs skill fighting trees. I thing that there is a little problem with the colliders - you could reduce them because often I am not so far and trees can damage me. I would appreciate a custom mouse cursor. However it's a very good entry. Thank you for your comment for my game. I wish you the best ++
PS : some buttons don't work - option/back & menu in-game.

Thank you for your comment @geckoo1337. I'm happy you like it  And that's a great idea about the custom cursor! As for the technical issues - yes, unfortunately, and we will try to avoid them in our next game.
Thanks @alex-lutay for playing and liking it  Hmm... app store you say, never thought about it
Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42a
