Awesome art, the atmosphere was great. Music was really cool, liked how the end credits were synchronized with the music. The artwork reminded me of Breath of the Wild.
Fired my mom out of a cannon, 10/10, would pull the trigger again...
Seriously though, absolutely fantastic! Everything from the music, the sound, the graphics, to the dialog was right on point. I'm impressed. The way you handle the dialog, where it starts when you look at a townsperson and continues where you left off, that's amazing. You nailed the theme too.
This is one of my favourite games in the Jam. I really love the polish you brought to it, the music is nice, the graphics are awesome but the gameplay is what kept me playing. Its a shame no one else has reviewed this because it is amazing. You know, I laughed so hard when I heard Pops talk, I just thought "That is perfect". You've put a very interesting spin on the theme and I applaud you for that. Really great job.
Awesome job! I saved the village with only 3 people left. Loved the concept and the little dialogue scenes with each villager. And a very satisfying conclusion. It would be funny to play more on the guilt of firing each one, like having them yelp as they fly through the air. :)
BTW, in the "low" performance version, I was unable to use WASD to move. I had to reload and pick the high performance version.
Wow, funny how just a context is enough to create attachment. I genuinely felt bad shooting those bullet people. But it made sense, the game has a narrative and it makes sense within the universe. The execution also paid off really well. Too bad the enemies don't seem to do anything except fly around ? Top ratings for everyone, the only problem is maybe in the sound and sound balancing but no game is perfect!
Excellent game! The pacing, the introduction to the mechanic with the door and the first 3 monsters, very well executed, art is also on point! Every time i missed a shot i felt a little bad for the bullet friends, it just lack a lose condition.
Love the music! Really adds to the experience. I also liked the main mechanic of grabbing the town people to shoot at the evil eye clouds. I left no villager alive. :D
@zaza Technically the lose condition is running out of bullets.
I considered having the enemies attack you (the player), but I worried about whether people would feel too rushed/endangered to pay attention to any dialogue.
I ADORED every second of it!!!!! The only thing I'd change a bit would be the color palette and make the mountains and environment a bit more interesting. (But if I'm complaining about colors you can imagine how much I love the rest.)
THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC!! The characters and dialog is spectacular. The music that plays is so well placed! And the mechanic is just clever and would love to see you go further with this. How did you do your dialog system? It's so quirky and fun looking and I love it!
1. Friend scripts determine which Friend (bullet) if any the player is close to/looking at. 2. Each Friend keeps track of their dialogue progress (number of characters so far in current string as well as which string we're on). The focused Friend gets to progress these numbers. 3. The UI detects that there is a Friend in focus, and asks it for its current 'display string' (a subset of the current dialogue)
This ends up making it so each character keeps a bookmark on its dialogue basically- hope that was helpful!
WOW! A great game overall, every part of it is well executed. I beat the final boss by sacrificing the entire village.... no one is left. sorry for them.
This was AWESOME. What a game, ultra cool concept and execution. At first I was talking to every bullet carefully and a minute later I was like get in the freaking gun and shut up. It made me laugh and the art is very cute :) Well done! It’s one of the best I’ve played.
Amazing game! Great art and well designed, enjoyed every second of it. Maybe it would have been great to have the colors a bit more intense, but anyway it's fantastic! And I have to love the detail when you shoot them into the sky xD
ahh, what a wonderful game this is! It's so charming and the world is so fun to be in. Lot's of little details that make this game so fun to experience over and over.
I simply love it ! Very sad game but the mood is really well done. Maybe having a little more characters but with which you could interact more would have made the game even more sad !

@mattwagar I'll give you the run down!
