Jump'n'Venture

Really interesting take on the theme, just two minor criticisms, 1) the jump was a bit repetitive/grating, and 2) the wall jump was incredibly difficult to use (for me at least) and would have been better if it was push in the direction you are jumping rather than push towards the wall.

Yeah, i got carried away by minor things like menu design and getting more unlockable "skills" into the game than by focusing on the mechanics. It was my first jump and run so i still learned a lot. thanks for the honest feedback @spider-the-second .

Nice graphics, and good work on the progression overall (took me a moment to realize he'd forgotten how to run left :D). The jumping is a bit janky and the sound is quite grating, and yeah, I couldn't get past the wall jump section since it was all too hard really. Could maybe make the jump more like Super Meat Boy (so you can jump at any point while sliding) or somesuch, right now it's really hard to get right. Also some holes = lead to new area and other holes = death (might want to mark the 'death' holes somehow).

But a good effort, and nice use of the theme!

Pretty blown away at how well designed this is! Exactly the kind of frustrating platformer I love. Art and music were lovely too.

Very nice. On top of the suggestions of @wolfrug I suggest you decouple the respawn placement from the learn new mechanics placement. So you can spread them more evenly

Great game. Only complaint would be that you slide when landing from jump which made some of the platforming sections more rushed then I would have preferred to take them.

Great job doing this game on your own! The graphics are simple but very cute, very good use of the theme. And i like the music too. I just wish there was more save point because I'm not very good at jumping. The wall jup is quite difficult too, I managed to do it but using both my hands ahah

I had it only playtested by my brother and it took him some effort too. But i couldn't change in time.

This game was really good! I liked the art/music and the idea of the caveman learning how to move from the cave paintings was a nice idea. The platforming was nice too, but it felt like there was a really huge input delay between when you press buttons and when your character moves. It was really frustrating and made it super hard to do areas like the really cramped one near the end of the game. I also didn't realize at first that there would be a leaping move so I kept trying to jump over that gap with my normal jump even though I couldn't do it. Anyway, the game on the whole had a really nice feel to it and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

I like the concept and art a lot. The art style and aesthetic is really good. I do think that wall jumping could be inproved. It feels a little inconsistent and hard to control. I do like how the theme makes sense thematically. Overall a very good entry.

The walk animation is so adorable, it made me laugh. It is an amazing short metroidvania and i love it that you even have to learn the ability to jump or walk to the left. If there would have been a jump puffer, this would have gotten one of my favorites this year. Great work guys ;)
