This description is important, as the beginning of this game can be somewhat confusing if you don't understand it! And yes, it's supposed to be black and white!
Oriopia is a top-down roguelike about watching a world which starts with nothing, not even color, grow and thrive. At first, the world has *literally nothing* except the ground, but as you explore in any direction, it starts to develop. Both the terrain and the enemies you are fighting evolve over the course of the game as you explore and progress. As you defeat more enemies using your gun and sword, more color comes into the environment. You win when you defeat enough enemies to bring full color to the environment. After winning, there is also a series of more difficult game modes such as raining enemies, huge terrain, etc.

Every piece of land inherits types of terrain from nearby land and also has a small chance to have completely new terrain. This means that as you move forward and explore the world, the terrain will shift between different procedural biomes. Occasionally you may see rare landmarks or structures.
