About the Game

Just Fishing is just a game about fishing. After you're plane has crashed in the middle of the Ocean, your only means of survival is a fishing rod. From a nearby rock, you must sit and fish to pass the time and to keep yourself alive. Surprisingly, fighting for your life can actually be pretty chill.

The game has 2 game modes to choose from:

Survival:
With a timer counting down to your demise, you must catch fish to gain more time. Each fish adds a varying amount of time, small fish offer 5 seconds, medium sized fish offer 10 and large fish awarding a whopping 20 additional seconds of sweet sweet life.

Peaceful:
It's just fishing, but without the shoe horned timer mechanics that I added to match the theme some what. Just relax and catch some fish.

How to play:
Left click to cast your line, left click to reel it back in.
When a fish is on the hook, smash left click repeatedly to reel it in. Larger fish require more clicks and will stay on the line for less time. Pull up with the mouse to reduce the number of clicks needed.

You can press 'R' to restart at any time and 'ESC' to exit to the main menu.

@darriasart to catch them you need to wait in until you get a bite and then spam left click. The bigger the fish the more clicks it will take. You can also pull up with the mouse to reduce the number of clicks needed.

Very satisfying to play and to look at. I found the glare to be a little too much at certain angles, that's my only complaint. It truly is just fishing.

Normally I hate motion blur but it works really well here, congrats on a great project.

The game looks absolutely amazing! It's really calming and peaceful. It was very quite easy to get the timer to go up in survival mode thought. One thing i'd like to see added is a counter to see how many fish you caught. Overall, great game, I enjoyed it a lot! :D

Took me a bit to figure out how to fish too. I eventually was able to catch 2-3 in survival mode. The look and feel of the scene is gorgeous. I wish there was just a bit more to do, like maybe if some fish gave you a fight for more like 10 seconds, and you had to play with the rod too. Either way, thank you for the lovely view and mood.

Very relaxing, despite the burning plane. Once I figured out how to catch the fish it was fun. With some line physics and some more AI on the fish this could be quite nice. Excelent graphics and shader work, short music loops are usually irritating but worked in this case.

Congratulations on finishing the game in 48 hours.

The mood, graphics and sound are really good. The fishing itself is also nice. However, the gameplay is repetitive. I caught so many fish I could just keep going and never lose. There should be more variety in gameplay and increasing difficulty. Good job!

Sound and graphics are amazing! Survival should really have more time, because aiming is hard and catching then is easy, in 11 seconds you should really shoot it with first try get in time.

Pretty cool and peaceful game! I was actually able to catch some fish and played survival mode a lot. Maybe 20 seconds are a bit less for the first few catches, but you can play many rounds after another. Nice and fun experience overall! Good job!

A relaxing game about the aftermath of what looks like a very serious and frightening airplane crash-
Strong points are the artstyle, the big in-your face flopping fish models, and idk, the whole v~i~b~e of it all with the music and pacing of the animations and everything. Great stuff here.

Reminded me very much of the animal crossing fishing system! I loved the ambiance, especially the sound of the waves. I also think that the game was balanced. If I tried to do my best, a game would last for about 2 min before the timer ran out, which seems reasonable. Perhaps it was a little annoying with the waves that covered the fishes, but that maybe is the point of them? Anyways, good job!

When i saw this in the games list i honestly internally screamed "FISHING GAME!!" I love fishing especially in video games. I really enjoy what you have made here it's so charming! I like the game loop and love the chill atmosphere! Only thing that could be a little less is the bloom (so bright!) Other than that awesome job!

Great atmosphere and graphic, the soundtrack is really fitting and relaxing, great submission, played for about 15 minutes, and had the chance to virtually escape from my quarantine :D

Beautiful, Just beautiful! However, it needs a more difficult mechanic in survival than just spamming left click as even the largest fish weren't difficult and there was no real threat of losing.

Very nice visuals (though a bit too much bloom for my taste). Loved the wiggly fishing rod. Got a lot of fishes, too! This will hopefully be a nice meal, after the boring airplane food

The setting and the graphics are incredible! Even the fish are animated, very cool stuff. The gameplay is a bit clunky, throwing the line seemed very random to me. Survival was also very hard, way too little time. But I do think the great ambiance of the peaceful mode makes up for it all :)

I ended up playing the peaceful mode, it was rather relaxing!

The sound queues are on point and let me know what's happening pretty well. The gameplay was pretty relaxing as well. However the fishing rod felt a bit awkward and stiff to control at times :(.

The white stuff in the ocean felt a bit weird. It seemed to obstruct my view of where the fish were for no interesting reason thus it felt a bit out of a place.

Other than that, pretty neat!

This was a really relaxing experience :)
Staying alive in survival mode seems quite hard. Maybe I do not get the biting mechanig completely.

You sure don't have very long to live if you aren't devouring fish! I dig the art and the environmental storytelling of the crashed plane. It was a bit hard to get the fish to bite, since they don't seem to be attracted to the hook - but maybe that's part of the challenge.

Really relaxing and a nice mood. A bit hard I would say usually I loose after around 35 seconds. Gnerally a bit boring to be honest, but maybe Im just the wrong target for a game like this. But very impressing for a solo project.

I really liked the aesthetic of this game, very calm and dreamy. The music did also fit well with the game. It was well polished! But maybe Add more difficulty to the survival mode.

It's nice to have a relaxing game with a great atmosphere after a day of work. I didn't read the "how to play", but I was able to catch some fish after several attempts. The system to throw the fishing hook feels weird at first, but after some time, I think it was perfect for the lazy gamer that I am.

I really like your game. Graphics and mood are great. I had some trouble to catch the fish, I think it could me more easier at the beginning. But overall is a really good game. Good job!
