LD46 Retrospective
What Went Well
- Another successful bout with RPG Maker MV.
- Spent less time figuring out what the game was going to be about. Had my core mechanic down quickly and was able to get a head-start on maps.
- Outside of critical features, I was able to spend the last day testing.
- Test deploying to itch.io early helped catch bugs!
What Went Not-So Well
- I didn't research some libraries/plugins enough. I ended up having to take out a core feature because it wouldn't work with HTML5.
- Because of the above, I was too burnt out to work on making custom music tracks.
- Streaming ended up being more time-consuming. I didn't prep well in advance and ran into a lot of technical issues that took time away from the jam
All in all - pretty happy with how things went. Feedback on the game so far has been positive. Most glaring issue seems to be the lack of variety in the fights.
This may be the last jam with RPG Maker MV. As great of a tool as it is, it can be pretty limiting and I think it's time to take off the training wheels so to speak. We'll see!
