My Pet's dungeon is a Dungeon crawling RPG with your new pet. Unfortunately your new pet seems to have no regard to safety at all and would likely run into the dungeon no weapons, no protection and most importantly no plan! To make sure your new friend doesn't die immediately there has been a shop stationed outside the dungeon with all the essentials like: Broad swords, potions and of course pizza! Now for only 8 gold! Where was I oh yes... If you don't have any money don't fret the shop has a very lenient policy on selling Items. They'll buy anything including that bit of slime you carry in your bag for no reason. If you need to get Items just go through the dungeon and kill some of the monsters that lurk there. Although I do need to warn you that improper extraction time (flee at the right time, I like sounding smart) may end up in a swift and unjust death for your friend. Unfortunately your pet doesn't like running away and will sometimes ignore your cry's to flee and keep fighting in these situations we advise a dose of steak to keep your pet happy. Happiness does not only keep your pet from dying after IGNORING YOU FOR THE FIFTH TIME!!!! sorry got a bit carried away. An increase in happiness will cause your pet to be more effective during battles.
Thank you for reading this explanation on how your pet is going to di... I mean thank you for playing this game I hope you have fun. Tip: When you enter the dungeon your pet gets happier so fleeing isn't that bad, most of the time.
Its a fun little game. A couple suggestions. The buttons are a little finicky and don't always work. The items telling you what they do stack up and its hard to see. When you beat the game its hard too see what som things say, maybe reformat it. Overall a great game for such a short time. :)
Really cool and simple game, pretty fun to play, good balancing, only minor thing to fix, would be changeing font and look for space in which you name your pet, because it looks ugly, also buttons sometimes don't work, but overall great entry
i liked it a lot, i had fun with it, i love the music, two things, once you lose or win, the game keeps going and the enemies keep attacking you, and when you win, the win message goes over the retry button, but everything else is great!
I was really enjoying it, but after making some progression I suddenly couldn't flee two fights in a row. Also I died eating pizza my first play through? Overall enjoyed it.
Really cool game! Love the concept, mix of genres, style and music. One thing though: I actually managed to get the pet so happy that it attacked the enemies like every frame, and I think the game broke because the tree enemy never died, even if the pet was attacking it like a maniac. Actually that was a very fun glitch. Overall amazing job!
Edit: Just finished the game in probably record time, I won and died at the same time lol
Music is really good. Its a little hard at the start as you have no idea what the items are and you don't really have time to read the tooltips. I'd also like the buttons to be a little more obvious, maybe resize the Sell/Equip buttons. Also might be nice to be able to read item descriptions before buying them. I really like the feel of this game and was an enjoyable experience, thank you, good work. p.s I love that music, what did you use to make it?
Fun little game. The music really brought something to it and made you feel like you were stuck in a dark dungeon. At first I found the game a little confusing. I couldn't figure out how the fighting worked - if I had to do something to attack etc. After a couple of tries I figured it out.
When I did figure it out, I found it very hard. I died rather quickly because I couldn't afford food. Seeing as the pet's lifespan is so short it might've been more fitting to just give the pet a random name.
I really liked the names for the enemies though. I chuckled at Oliver The Skeleton.
Also, when you die the enemy keeps pounding away at the poor little pet :(
Overall, this game is one of the games I will remember when LD46 is done.
Super fun idea and cute graphics! Naming the pet was a nice customization touch, I'd love to one day see the equippables show up on the pet avatar. Well done!
Super cute, I did kinda wish I could choose a slime as my pet as soon as I saw it (they are cute!) but this was really fun! The naming of the pet was a nice touch btw! good job
On the flip side, mashing the flee btn can get frustrating
I would suggest randomizing the dungeon a bit, I think now it's always slime, slime, skeleton etc. and you can fight the easy slimes, get 4 coins and flee (or at least try to ;) )
Initally I didn't think I could find the controls... then realised there aren't any. Strangely enjoyable though you very quickly seem to reach max power and end up dieing because your pet completely refuses to leave which is a little frustrating. No idea what some of the items do and no indication if how I can make the pet happy - bones help but how do I use them?
great game! hard to get at first, but after a few tries I got the hang of it (I think!) Great audio, great art, great idea, great theme, great monster variety, great fun.
A couple things I would want to see on 2.0: - I want to see item stats on shop items - A little better understanding of the flee system - Save my pets name from play-to-play so I don't have to keep naming it with my wife's name LOL - Expanded version would be great to include more items, and pet "upgrades"
Simple gameplay but has lots of variety. I still don't understand if there's a way to regain health and what's the purpose of losing pet's happiness... maybe it will boost pet's attack speed?
I really enjoyed this. I played a half a dozen runs and, of course, my best run ended with my pet ignoring my commands to FLEEEEEEEE. Could definitely see expanding this concept. Also, oh my, you are a bad pet owner. How many pets do you send into a dungeon full of monsters. whyyyyyyy. Nice Job!
I played this one for a long time. Very unique gameplay, genuinely strategic and quite difficult. Visuals were cute, and I reeeeally loved the music. Awesome job!
Took me a few tries to solve. Reading through the comments I can tell not many people used your helpful set of tips and tricks about the flee button and happiness etc. Music was nice, I love the sort of autobattling that occurred, it was nice to manage, I felt like the game was solved once I understood it though, which isn't great, but I also couldn't ever pick up any items from the giant or the treant or the bag or whatever it was. That made me real sad since I really liked the progression in the game. If I could empty my inventory as I progressed, and maybe spend some money to upgrade the shop for better weapons, I'd be hooked in for days. I know of course I'm asking for more content in a Ludum Dare which is terribly hard to do, but that also means you achieved your goal quite well! Lemme know if you continue to update this.
That was very fun! It's nice to have a pet that does all the fighting for me, and I can just sit back and do some inventory and pet management. The game is well fleshed out. Giving your pet a name was a nice touch. I like the music. I wish there was a little bit more variety on the items, or the ability to toss out slime during dungeon crawling later in the game, as it filled up my inventory too quickly and I wanted to get other things instead. But this is a solid entry! Great work!
Very cute game with pretty graphics and audio. I love the way the design of dungeon crawling. Unfortunately, textboxes of the items don't disappear and creates a mess in my gameplay. Nice job!
This reminds me of Digimon World, another nostalgia-buster in my collection. Very well done, to me it feels a bit like a combat tamagotchi ! :) Kudos, thank you for making this
I had a lot of fun with this! It's a bit addicting as well. I really love the simplistic style of the game, and the balance between keeping your pet happy and battle ready. I feel that the inventory should be larger, or allow you to discard items while in the dungeon, cause my inventory filled up pretty fast. But other then that, solid entry. Awesome job!
Love the cute minimalist pixel art, the audio fits the game very well, i especially like the music, the noise effect is a nice add to enhance the mood ! The concept is interesting and well-executed, nice idea to mix Dungeon Crawler with Tamagotchi-like, it was addictive and fun to play, it adds a funny dimension to have to take care about the pet's happiness ! Great compo entry you made there
1 - Mechanics, Learning and Flow: Very interesting and (a little) fun to also be responsible for these "pets" that enter dungeons. Unfortunately there is little feedback on items (it would be nice to have a side window that tells you what the item is for before buying or selling). Learning to play was a fun process. I want to return and play more. I had trouble escaping the dungeon after I passed the "giant". I don't know if this is on purpose (because it went too far or because it has a lot of load) or if there are any bugs in the game. The flow of the game starts as something very challenging, then we get used to playing (it all seemed good, I felt quite immersed). Unfortunately the song stopped playing after a while. I don't know if this is only for the HTML / Web version. There are some things that I did not understand well, apparently the "pet" does not like to take medicine to get cured, but he likes new clothes. I was very happy to be able to name the creature.

Most of them are sufficient for the purpose of trying the game (with the exception of some items that I was unable to differentiate well, I don't know if it was a boot (or not), I don't know if it was a cookie (or not)). The audio was interesting a priori (I missed continuing to work). Something with a sound effect would also be good. The narrative is not the focus, so there is not much to talk about.
3 - Culture: Taking care of pets and entering dungeons are very interesting and fun things. I believe that the game can be polished and evolve into something bigger (with different game modes).
4 - Monetization: In my view, with several game modes, graphic polishing and sound polishing, the project could be sold in stores like itch.io and others of the type. This is if the team is interested in continuing.
Great game! The idea of having to keep the pet safe from danger is probably the most fitting theme idea I've seen so far. There's a great sense of urgency in protecting something that keeps trying to die! The pet refusing to flee is a good thought on paper but it felt like a very punishing mechanic and maybe it could be modified in a way that makes it more fun and less annoying. Also the music was excellent! Great job on that. Good effort for even making a different song for the theme. I just had to stick around in the theme menu until the track was over! Both tracks are really good fits for the game mood as well.

I don't get some of the thinks, and why my pet is attacking faster each time i enter the dungeon.
Very addictive, just more dungeons and pets and you have a very solid game.

Jokes aside, really nice game (though it's reasonably a bit exploitable). I enjoyed the game and the music was nice too
