At this point just follow the walkthrough below bros...Move with WASD. Press x or left mouse click to interact with objects. Press left click to pick up slime and right click to drop him. Take care of the slimes needs, the thought balloon indicates what he needs. Press z to highlight all interactable objects. If you dont fulfill slime needs in 15 seconds he loses 1 hp, if he loses 3 its game over, fulfill all needs to win.
Walkthough in case anyone is stuck.
first need - book shelf - slime.
second need - pickup slime - bath.
third need - fridge - oven(right click at the right moment) - slime.
@adamv@aphid98 there is walkthrough in the description. You cant interact with items if its unrelated to the slimes current needs to prevent like 20 bugs I had. I knew this would happen, feels bad man.
@digitaldude555 I Assumed that I needed to click on either the coffee table or the bookshelf, but neither did anything. Are those the ones I should be clicking?
Fun idea! And a sentient box looking after a slime... makes perfect sense!
I also couldn't cook the food, I got it from the fridge, but at the oven the marker on the bar just kept cycling or something? Got an idea of the game though.
@digitaldude555 I think (for me) something is broken with the raycasting on the webgl builds. If you upload a downloadable version, I'm sure many more people will be able to get it working!
I love the graphics by the way, the slime is hilarious.
I was confused at the beginning then realized you had to walk to each object to pick up or interact. Might be better to have a little tutorial area room before the main care room. Fun game once you figure it out!
Certainly a interesting concept for the theme! I found it a little challenging to know what I should be doing. For example the first bubbles asks for paper right? I spent most of the time looking around for newspaper. Then the next one is sleep, but clicking on the bed doesn't seem to work? Really neat little concept.
I wasn't sure how to play in the beginning, a short tutortial section would help, maybe a text box or two. But it didn't take me long to figure it out! Once I did I reall enjoyed the game and battling to keep the slime alive. I laughed out loud at the first death image. 5*s for humour!
Not a bad idea, but the UI could use some work. That you need to click while the status bar is in the red zone for cooking is non-obvious, and the interaction points are non-obvious for some things.
That was an interesting game! I enjoyed doing all of the tasks, but found it hard to understand what the slime needed based solely on the image. Solid entry!
Fun game ! Having to retrieve different object for the slime to survive is perfectly in line with the theme ! The gameplay is quite tight once you get the hang of it. I especiallly liked how you added additional mechanics, such as time-based interactions, at different places of the game.
Strenghts : - Straightforward gameplay, with a few fun twists - Funny Visuals
Possible improvements : - State a bit more clearly that movement is possible with WASD in the instructions
Interesting idea but a lack of polish, it took me 5 minutes to figure out that I was the box and I could move around with ASWD. I think that the game would have been more intuitive if played like a point and click game.
The graphical animation of the box moving around with the slime etc. could be kept but I think that it is redundant to have movement controls and then use the mouse to interact with whatever is closest. I can't tell what exactly you were going for but maybe this was intended to add some extra challenge with the time? The collision detection was a bit awkward too which made it harder to move around.
All in all cool concept, if you decide to make a similar game in the future maybe focus on user feedback more :D
1 - Mechanics, Learning and Flow: I understood that you must take care of the slime, since you could control the box. And that you would need to fulfill slime requests (within the established time). And that each request would lead the character to interact with the scenario (in different ways, including mini-games). Controlling the character turns out to be difficult due to the collision box (I believe) that only shows the interaction if it is very close, in addition to (sometimes) stopping or passing directly. I think that to solve this it would be interesting to not need to get so close to each object (that is, it would increase the collision box to a larger area and make the selected object stand out in the scene). The way of presenting the objectives can be improved, because at first (considering only the game), it is not known to even interact. So it would be interesting to highlight the slimes order balloon more. It would be (also) interesting to have greater visual (and audible) feedback when something is collected, delivered (even when the objective is achieved). About the game flow: in my opinion it would be a good idea to increase the time for tasks (not much), even if only in the first two to four tasks, just to allow the player to learn to interact. There are some challenges that don't seem to have worked well (the one on the stove I tried everything, but I couldn't get back if I was hit or miss). I know I made a mistake because I didn't have a positive result (but I could burn the hot dog if I failed, and make me get another one in the fridge). Anyway: congratulations on your entry! :)
2 - Graphics, Audio, Narrative and Polishment: The graphics are simple and it is possible to understand the scene (so, with the exception of HUD and feedbacks, it is possible to understand the project well and fulfill the role). I miss audio (I believe it would help the project a lot). The narrative is purely and simply to take care of a being who asks to have his / her desires / wants / needs fulfilled.
3 - Culture: I believe it establishes a relationship with taking care of pets and (even) people. If the game is polished and has interaction problems solved, I believe that the next step (in case of continuity of the project and interest in giving social return) would be to increase interactions (who knows, maybe go a little beyond entertainment). :)
4 - Monetization: I currently don't see how to monetize such a project, but if it were a Tamagotchi style it would be something to think about (with day-and-night cycles etc).
I love the premise of trying to fulfill a needy slime's needs, that's super clever! I noticed "press WASD" in your ldjam page, but I would put it on your html5 page too (at the beginning of the instructions) because I spent a minute or two not being able to figure out what to do. (I tried pressing z, x, and clicking on everything) If you have the time, simple in-game messages like "Use WASD to move" go a long way.
I couldn't figure out what to do to get the food cooked, I tried bringing it to the oven and it looks like there's a minigame to get to get the food cooked. I tried clicking and tried pressing x or e when the line was over the hot dog but to no avail.

Let me know if you fix this! I would love to play.

Well done - thanks for sharing!

It seems that it stopped due to the time running out or something...
I believe that this slime does not like raw food.
