Johnny is chilling during his relax time at the bar.. But then.. A mob boss punk called Jack enters and destroys the bar!! Beating Johnny and Kicking him out of the location.

THIS IS IT! LET'S COME BACK AND REVENGE AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE!

Using the power of punches and destruction, we will loop through VHS realities where we kill Jack with a lot of ways and tools beating him to death! Cool.

Done in 3 days, there's stuff left, i had some trouble with the AI and VSYNC, however here is.
I wish to add more, Jack is defenseless for now, play around and have some fun beating Punks, i've made a last hotfix for Mouse and Scoring, maybe doesn't work as expected, good luck everybody :v:

UPDATE: AI Have been fixed, however that made the game much HARDER! Is beatable, but it will require sacrifice and knock them quick!

UPDATE 2: Jackaster now is a Slasher Horror Beat'em Up called Candy Jack, working hard for a release over Halloween weekend!

Man you must really hate Jack! I loved the graphics and ambience, it's also fun to play.
The AI can knock you out from a distance however, I think it should be closer to be able to hit you. Also kudos for including a tutorial that actually leads to the game!

this game is pretty cool, I like the mix of 2d characters and 3d movement and camera, kinda reminds me of old-school doom in a way, sound is pretty good too, think this would be even better with just a little more polish but this is still a solid entry to the jam

Graphics and design are awesome! But as you said the player has currently no defense and is knocked out with one punch which makes it almost impossible to beat the game. Still fun to beat them though :grin:

Thank you very much for your kind words! I made a complete system with this game, im planning on making a full game on this cause it is much more than a simple game, even if it doesn't look like it :laughing:

I would really do like a Ben & Ed story but with violence. Dreams.. Haha :heart:

Good graphics, the camera shift makes it a bit confusing tho, specially when you are next to a wall. Wasn't able to play much because of my motion sickness, but it looked fun! :)

The idea of Jackaster is playing through the best Snuff film of pure violence, looping through to kill Jack many times for the perfect clip. It is a bit spoiler, but is a good point for the loop thing.

Cool style, I couldn't go fullscreen on itch.io, which I think this game would benefit from because of the pace of the action.

I like the use of sprites in the world as 3D entities.

i really liked the music, very fitting. It made me want to punch all living and non-living things lol. Also I liked the animations and the art style a lot. SFX were also good and the gemplay felt interestig, a bit weid that the main chracter covers the middle of the screen where you have to aim, but it was fun to play still! Good work :)

Very nice artstyle! The music was just awesome. But the gameplay was a bit boring for my taste. You could just run through everyone and kill jack. But overall nice work !

Thanks everybody for the clear feedback! I might need to fix Jack.. As you can just run through and kill him no matter what, i want to solve this problems but i am afraid of changing too much the build because of the ld rules. Fixing Jack would make the game actually more playable, he is supposed to shoot us and we must throw him stuff. I'll end up probably doing it for making it a better game, greetings everybody! :blush:

Super cool graphics, very original! Loved that you can throw pretty much anything at your enemies from bar chairs to couches, pretty fun aha! Only thing is sometimes I got knockout but did not even seen I was getting hit, that was a bit strange. Apart from that very cool to play, and nice music too, very well done!

Tike the graphics, quite hard to understand when you hit the other and when they hit you. I kill jack always without doing other tasks and I finish.. Also I was expecting enemies will follow me.. but they were there waiting.

I fixed Jackaster AI! It might be hard now, is beatable but complicated, you gotta beat every Punk on the zone so you have free way to kill Jack, he will shoot us and we must throw him objects and punch him, AI now signs with movements before attacking, Jack laughts when he is about to shoot us, if we escape the fight and go far away Punks get mad and chase us! "This is what the game is supposed to behave"

Let me know guys how much you can deal with it by showing your progress :laughing:

The presentation was really good, really liked the art and animations, music was good, sfx were good. The gameplay was a little janky though, it felt like, and the difficulty was definitely way high (or maybe I'm just bad). One thing in the tutorial level, I kept getting stuck into a state where I couldn't move when trying to jump on the trashcans... I had to reset several times until I jumped in just the right way to get past them.

The AI is just way too difficult... I feel like sometimes it's hard to pick things up, also the camera kept glitching when I stood next to a wall.

It was pretty fun, it's these small bugs and the difficulty that just subtract from the overall experience.

I did really like the art and the fact that he looks right when you turn right :)

Tough game! I think it'd be a lot more manageable if thrown objects went in the direction you wanted more reliably. Throwing stuff does seem pretty OP...

Really enjoyed the graphics and the mood of the game! The controls felt a tad clunky at times (specifically picking up/throwing things and the AI was a bit too hard for me even after a handful of goes

This game has a very unique look to it. Really difficult though, and the player head sometime gets right in front of the camera, occluding everything.

Loved it. But you should definitely tinker with those colliders 'cause it really made it hard to play. Like getting stuck in a trash bin or I couldn't quickly grab those chairs to throw. It made playing way harder. I loved your graphical style and the music really fit. Some fixes required but really good entery
