BLAST MINER
BLAST MINER
You love explosions. I love explosions. Miners love explosions. Moles don't, but who cares about them, am I right?
Gameplay
Explode the stone and get orbs. Power up the portal and go DEEPER into the caves!
(Footage of me taking on several Jetpack Moles at the same time.)
Controls
WASD/Arrow Keys = Move
Left Mouse Button = Shoot

This really is good work.
Did you happen to watch Vlambeer's video on gamefeel? A lot of the techniques you're using remind me of stuff covered in that talk.
Also great to play a game with snappy platforming :D
Edit: GG ;)
This looks amazing. I'm a bit sad there's no music, but one can't do everything :'(
Moving around feels great, exploding stuff feels great. I'm not sure if the game is hard or if I really suck, but I had a great time playing.
Maybe just adjust the difficulty a bit.
Something like allowing me to keep my collected gold would work!
I'd also prefer some form of mouse locking for the game window as I kept screwing myself over by clicking outside the window when frantically trying to fend off jetpack moles.
@cakts it’s a combination between mixing sounds in Audacity from recordings I made from my phone like stepping in the ground, swiping my hand on my hoodie, and pretty much anything I could find outside or around the house that made a similar sound to what so was looking for and using Chiptone to make computer generated sounds. The shooting sound is actually made from an empty soda can filled with wrappers that I blew into. I also use various effects but the majority of what I talk about can be found this this incredibly helpful video here:
These guys are definitely better at sound design than me but so try. :)
Blowing up the terrain (and those pesky moles) was very satisfying, but there's also a nice strategic element in that you can't just blow up everything in sight - you have to make sure you can get back out of whatever hole you've just dug, and back to the portal.
I'd like to see a full (and easier) version of this, it's very fun and has a lot of potential.
