I'm a big fan of the paper sub art.

Haha I knew a game like would happen the moment I read the theme. And you executed it pretty well. Love the way the sprite changes when you dodge things. Good job!

Cool design, my suggestion is to use some other colors for your instructions, it is a bit hard to read yellow on blue the background

I loved the art and the movement felt great. An audio level slider would of been nice but great job overall, I really enjoyed it.

Pretty nice ! Maybe the graphics can be better but this game is fun :) gg wp

Controls really nicely. I like the atmosphere of the game and the small details (like each submarine changing color, the corpses of your old submarines on the sea floor). It's pretty unforgiving at times (e.g. in the moving streams it's hard to react to mines offscreen). I played the WebGL version and it worked OK for me (though agreed it can be wonky). Overall a nice jam game :)

I love the art of the submarine :) the soundtrack gets repetitive very quickly tho, I played it for about 10 minutes, didn't reach the end. but still liked it, it remind me of Ecco the dolphin !

This was great. I had a lot of fun playing it. I like how my destroyed subs were littering the ocean floor. Nice reminder to how many times i died. The first time i came across the first current and was swept in a mine startled me. Great placement of a mine. When i finally defeated the first current i travelled so slow, i didnt want to die again, LOL. Great game! Thanks.

@cope @gabriel-pittol Thanks for playing ! the rotation with quaternion in unity was really a pain for us but we managed to get this effect working in the end.

@behdad Thanks, Sorry for the text it was added really late.
pepnou27 Apr 2021, 08:16
@diaonic @pandalk Thanks for playing :) . Sorry for the developer's music. Even for ambient music, a 24sec loop quickly get repetitive XD, we'll try to improve that for the next jam.

The "paper flip" effect was such a nice touch and was really effective to set up the playful mood ! I know the music was already mentionned but yeah it doesn't really add much to the game as it gets really repetitive and feels really slow in contrast of the submarines streams launching you left and right.

Overall it was good experience, good job !

Wow, what a great experience. Great job! I especially liked:
- That you keep the upgrades that you have collected. And in general the game feels designed fair. When you die you don't have to start over again from the start which would cause most players to quit after the first death.
- The environments look very nice, the whole game is just a nice atmosphere, awesome chill music. It just makes it fun to be there and explore the ocean.

cool graphics and chilling music. I had a little bit difficulties of finding the correct way and it was a bit frustrating to start over from the beginning. But very good game, keep on going :)

Really liked the game, the controls where tough to master but once I did it was good. Really liked the music and the fact that you can see your previous attempts.
Nice work.

Loved it! Music was very atmospheric. I especially liked the GIANT fish in the background as you got deeper.

Controls are a little bit tricky at start, but easily can adjust to that.
Music was a little bit too loud for me.

"Tutorial", which means these yellow texts near start to remind player what to do are not visible enough, you can easily not notice them at all.

I liked that whatever you collect stays with you, and also liked how my broken submarines kept stacking, but at some point there was so much broken ones I had problems to swim around them.
pepnou29 Apr 2021, 14:47
@minus Thanks for playing! More visible text and music control are on the list of future improvements ^^. Small precision: the broken submarines arent colliding with the player, to avoid blocking paths.

We could make an "Easter Egg" for each other haha.

Jokes aside, it's a amazing game! Very responsive mechanics, good music and sounds (effects). The atmosphere is cool, the game itself is intuitive to understand and goes straight to the point on theme.

Great work on this game!

Controls work great - though I had initially excepted some inertia (not sure if this would make it harder though?)

Played via Web and didn't notice any lag at all - great entry!

Loved the level design! very interesting to explore! Really a full game experience! Was quite challenging for me, so i'm grateful you guys made the mines disappear after you collided with them in a previous life!

Great game!

Everything feels very well put together and polished.
The controls feel good and precise even if the hitbox of the submarine is huge. The level design is nice and the small metroidvania and persistent elements are well thought.

Thanks for the game I had fun!

Nice Game. Played it to the end :) Very fair. Liked to shoot in turns so you get a "special" torpedo :D
enderswypeauthor16 May 2021, 13:04
@robbzenone ahah, you got the slim paper torperdo, you can do the slim paper dead submarine if you die while on a flip, it's a feature :)
