You are Boomy Lee and have been cursed with both invincibility and the ability to explode if you don't control your breathing, maybe half a curse half a blessing?
The theme for LD48 was "Deeper and Deeper" so this game is about rhythmically keeping your breath to prevent yourself from exploding. The aim is to go around the room and finish all the tasks without losing (which is if you damage too many objects in the room). The challenge is you have to keep both the rhythm of your breathe and the key presses. Didn't externally play test it so not 100% sure but I feel like it does add a bit of challenge.
This was the first time I managed to actually finish a game jam with a workable end product so I'm kinda vibin rn
If you look at the code and wonder "Why the hell did he program this like this?" It is because I was rushing and when there is rush there is no logic so stuff's just kinda haphazardly thrown together towards the end. I will pay for these sins in the manner of no Cheerios for a week.
The controls are listed in game but I forgot to put in the key for running so: - Hold Left Mouse button to breathe in - Press E to interact with the task - Hold down Left Shift to sprint
When you're breathing in, you need to let go and release the breathe when the vignette turns red, I don't think I made that clear enough in the game.
You also get a bit of a buffer on how long you can go without breathe if you take a DEEP (lmao) breathe
You have to hit the key when the bar turns green during the task, not sure if that was clearly made in the game?
I really like the graphics and music of this game, exploding gave me a heart attack at first but after getting used to it I would do it cause it was funny, I saw the colored edges of the screen but still couldn't tell when to breath in and out, I couldn't complete any tasks because I kept dying! I'm very curious as to how you did the walking because it looked very nice!
Superb dude!Loved the Graphics and sound!THe Gameplay is impecable.Would love to see this top the charts.Well Done Mate! This is WAY better than my game.
Trying to keep your breathing in sync while hitting the timings for the tasks proves to be an interesting challenge.. I had to practice breathing without the tasks for a while before I could get through them all. An interesting concept with a humorous consequence!
Thank you so much everyone for the feedback! A tutorial definitely would have fared better in the short run but I;m glad whats there is at least playable!
This is hard as hell, but I liked it. Had to laugh quite a bit. But I often failed quick time events when I was sure that I had hit the right button, maybe I did something wrong. Did you record the cursing in the menu yourself? :D
I liked the menu screen a lot, as well as the graphics, sounds, and models. It was all really well done. It was just really tough to do anything without exploding. I was at times able to keep myself alive when I was doing nothing but standing still, but I wasn't able to complete any tasks. It's a really neat idea you have here!
This was a very interesting concept. Overall I found it was pretty fun although many of the things were not obvious without reading the instructions. I found it pretty easy to get off breathing rhythm when trying to do the key pressing minigames. It might be interesting to switch up what mini games happen throughout but obviously with the time constraints that will be tough.

Also, I encountered a bug that didn't reload the whole thing after being exploded
Did you record the cursing in the menu yourself? :D
My brain doesnt handle this well xD
I think there could be some better indicators on when to breathe, but anyways a great game!
