Beer Quest

The game looks like it could be fun but we had a lot of trouble figuring out what we were supposed to do.

difficult to change between actions. Also, a king is stronger than me? and yeah... no beer(((

Pretty cool as a small RPG, although perspective is weird. And I didn't know that Lazarus can now export to HTML5 :D how time flies

I love the feel of this game! I couldn't figure out how to actually brew beer with the ingredients that I had, I clicked on the little cauldron and gave me a window saying "what should I brew today?" but no other options. I wish it would explain it a little better somewhere! But I really enjoy the extend of what you can do in the game, makes you feel free to experiment and do whatever you want! All in all, I liked it!

Would like to see hotkeys for switching actions :)

Really liked this actually, sort of my type of adventure game, simple and short :D I unfortunately wasn't able to figure out, how to - I think - brew the beer? :D It would be cool to see this finished, you got the gathering, now some light-weight crafting options, and a side quest or two :) The guards don't actually react to you talking about beer, nor when the king calls upon them, which is a shame, as the unsuspected instant death situation would be quite funny :D It is possible I missed something, something from the things I wrote about here, if that is the case, I am sorry :)

Neat concept! I did figure out how to brew beer but when I tried to give it to the villagers, nothing happened? I couldn't play much past that point because I died when I attacked a guard and also when I tried attacking the king. Not sure if the game needs an update or a little more direction but I'd love to finish. :)

Additional feedback: Maybe look into scaling your resolution so the pixel art remains crisp. It was a little blurry for me but a crisper look would really feed the retro vibe. There was a moment where I had Windows 95 nostalgia which was fun for me.

Overall great job! I enjoyed your humor and the overall look.

@april-lehman @shores @drunk-wizard Hehe thanks for the comments. Yeah it really isn't made clear enough what really is possible or how. Some external people playtesting would have shown this but sadly everything just fell together just hours before the deadline.. You know the story :sweat_smile:

@pixelydian Hehe yeah there were some options that we almost got implemented (beer transactions, etc, but would take longer to remove than to finish). Definitely lots that could be added

And spot on with the scaling. It was a bit disappointing how badly it ended up looking as we were going for that retro pixelated/boardgame look. We will definitely prepare that better next time :)

@furfel Thanks. And yeah Pas2JS is absolutely excellent. Can't say enough positive things about it or how well it integrates in Lazarus. Definitely try it out ;)

Bit tough to get into this one if I am honest, but I think enough people have mentioned this. Unfortunately, fun was missed for me, BUT you should still be stoked with your efforts! It's not easy to strap something together that is playable in the timeframe, and I bet there are a few great game moments in this one.

Figure out how to brew, but don't know what else to do, everybody do not seem interested in beer (even free one) :(

Nice, I got pretty into exploring around and figuring out what was going on. I drank lots of beers and almost killed the king lol - I'm not positive if that was the thing I was supposed to do. Well done, I had fun :)

The world felt quite alive considering how minimal it appears, I appreciated the details like the other farmers getting angry at me for harvesting their crops or the king fighting with me. I found the tools and made some beer but didn't manage to sell any :(

I at first attacked the king without a weapon... not a good idea :-)
Fun soundeffects everywhere XD. Overall i wish there was more beer.
