By-place
By-place is a dystopian detective game in isometric projection. As an independent journalist, the player travels to the far reaches of a Russian country to solve a tangled murder and uncover the nature of human vices. Follow the trail, take notes in your clipboard and collect clues to investigate the crime. When all the evidence is collected, solve the puzzle to see who is to blame. Why do people continue to deliberately live in filth and turn a blind eye to the horror going on? You may be the one to answer the question.
This is our original photogrammetric world. This is the reality around and within us.
It bore from the idea of what would happen if the events of series like True Detective and The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair took place in Russia. A small town with an interweaving of destinies and secrets of its inhabitants. An established course of their life and a dislike for strangers. Gloomy oppressive atmosphere. Events that seem inexplicable to an outside observer, suggestive of their mystical origin. Sounds familiar, huh? Many of us have seen all this in European and American works in Stephen King's manner. In many books, films and series. Now imagine the same thing, but in the Russian outback. With its decline, absurdity, remnants of the traditions of the country of unfulfilled dreams and the famous Russian melancholy.

The dialogue system is extremely buggy, it duplicates dialogue/empties stucking you in the dialogue window

This game looks so cool! I found a couple bits of information but wasn't totally sure what to do next, so I wandered around for a while at least. I love detective games and this gave me a lil bit of a Disco Elysium vibe. I think this could be really good given more time and polish. Also I wish I could move faster!

The mood is on point, the movement feels nice. I went around and talked to everybody, but didn't figure out how to proceed. Also my compliments to the music guy. Otchim did it, I am convinced..

Wow!! What a real cool graphics and animations and characters for just a weekend game! Very impressive, a lot of work done with that. But unfortunately it's hard to play as for me. After i meet all the people on scene i don't know what to do next. Maybe you should add some tips for stupid players like me. And it would be very good if you add sprint button or move player faster, cause it's getting bored.

@nikos1304 @bohmann @aeonarch @substain @kristinamay We thins so, the game needs a tutorial or explanation about detective part of gameplay. But thank you anyway for the playing!
Actually, you need to talk to people and find a couple of items in the location. Both items and conversations provide clues that can be opened in the journal by pressing the J key.
We also believe that leisurely walking is more suitable for a place like By-place :D

I like the atmosphere of the game, with great music to go with it. I do like the world, but I was a bit annoyed with the camera. I wish I could see more with it. But I think it would be a really cool game. I do not know if I understand what to do, though.

@leom hi! Sorry for your frustration of the game. We hadn't enough time to make a tutorial.

I solved the case!!
Very cool game though i sometimes just feel like wondering around aimlessly without a real goal, though with the dialogue i could pinpoint the culprit. Overall cool game !!! Loved the concept and the theme the game was going for !!

For now I just had a walk around the scenery and just took in the atmosphere but once you have put a more ocmpleted list of controls out I d be happy to give it another shot. =D
