A game about simple harmonic motion.
A red ball sinusoidally oscillates about an equilibrium line.
By shifting that equilibrium line, you can control the movement of the ball.
Your job is to use the equilibrium line to help the ball avoid obstacles and keep within the boundaries of the screen.
Your score is how far you have gotten before the ball eventually knocks into an obstacle (or the edge of the screen).
Try to delay the inevitable. Good luck!
(I know, this isn't a good way to fit the theme, but I struggled quite a bit with it and I figured creating a fun game was more important than creating a game that fit the theme.)
Tools used:
- Godot 3.4.2 (first time using Godot for LD wooo)
- GIMP
- Inkscape
- sfxr
Originally wanted to submit this for Compo but ran out of time.
Also wanted to add a bit of randomness to the tile generation but ran out of time as well, so please excuse the possibly subpar level design, I didn't have time to do much playtesting.
This was a game idea I had long before I had even gotten into game dev, but I somehow never got around to turning it into a fully-fledged game until now, when LD50 came around and I was struggling with the theme.
10 April update: Minor bugfixes - null error if ball dies during tutorial, and harder maps spawning too early if the ball is stuck in the tutorial for too long.
