A Simple Job
Hello fellow jammers,
First of all, this is a game made for the Playdate console, meaning that unless you have the console yourself or the SDK on your computer, testing won't be possible as far as I know.
Now then, A Simple Job is a very simple tile based game with keys, doors and magic portal and you need to go through several floors in order to escape from a skyscrapper. Why ? Because this was a heist for a very valuable wind-up statue that's sadly very cursed and starts to ring every 10 seconds so you better crank it before it raises the alarm !!
As for the Jam itself, it was a very interesting experience to work outside of my usual tools and for a specific system. The idea for the game was to create a game where you would need to crank every 10 seconds, and make possible to focus so much on the game part of the screen that you forget to check the monkey. Really curious to see how the game will work with real players now and if this was successfull.
Some features are missing that I'll probably add post compo and if possible I would really like to add a "Speedrun" mode as I had that in mind when making the diffrent levels. Also I'm sorry, all the music you get is a 10 second loops because I didn't find the time to improve it :/
It was my first time using LDtK as well and I must admit that it is a wonderful tool for jam as it speeds up the ability to create levels and allowed me to have 20-ish levels of varying quality.

I'm inexperienced with playdate but forgive the silly question - is it feasible to port it to PC at all?
