Introductions

A missive has arrived!

Mister Mayor!

You have been tasked with colonizing this here land. You will need to build an agricultural estate to feed the imperial capital. Migrants will arrive to farm your fields so make sure that you house them proper. Once they have arrived build some fields so they can generate more food stuffs for the palace. Now for you new mayors, I will explain in detail how this works. Come hither.

How to Play:
------------

At the start of the game you will only have one building, the manor. Once placed you will get 3 tiles  underneath the green bar. To the right you will have a brown leathery button. This is where the other tiles will be until the green bar is filled and your hand is shuffled and you get 3 new tiles.

#### Buildings

This is your mansion and must be placed first. You will have more tiles, but they are being worked on in the builders guild.

Fields which are defined by yellow crop lines. Must be connected to hovels.

Hovels will house serfs coming to you to the interior. Must be connected to another tile type. Only housed serfs will be able to work the fields.

To place a tile you will need to click on the tile then place it on the map.

Terrain Tiles

You can not place on mountains, which are the light white with a border.

Grass gives fields a bonus of +2 resources. Normally you will get +1 resources.

Imperial Taxes

Every 20 seconds the Imperial Court will request resources to feed the growing interior. You will be able to see the amount due after each tax collection phase. As a gift the council will except you for your first tax period.

Tile Creation

When you run out of tiles you will need to create more from the builders guild to the bottom right. Cost for a new tile is 3 resources and can be purchased by clicking on the brown tile on the bottom right.

Migrants are needed to farm the fields. Watch for their arrival in the log, which is located in the lower left.

Resource Manager

You can keep tabs on all your resources in the top left. You have available housing, housed serfs, homeless serfs, and how many resources you have. You use resources to get more tiles into your deck and to pay the Imperial Court.

Good luck,

Markus of Turth

It seems like it could be a good game, but I was just confused by all of the mechanics. It seemed to just throw the user in without any explanation or help. Having the system written out in the description helped, but the game overall was too confusing for me.

Took a bit to realize how to get started but that was really fun. The risk/reward of buying from the guild is a nice touch. The difficulty ramped up a bit too quickly but it also fit nicely into the theming. I especially liked the flavor text and in and out of game.

It was a little confusing. I didnt understand very well what i have to do.
Come and se my game!

Not bad :) Is the path to victory just fast placement? The way the taxes goes up seems fast and linear?

Agree that more instructions would be useful. I was able to stumble my way through, but I don't quite understand how to optimize my strategy.

Mister Mayors,

Thank you for playing! I agree that the mechanics could be explained much better. I will seek to improve these for you!

A fun and simple little strategy game, I definitely enjoyed playing, I wish there were more buildings and more options to what I could do to make resources however what you had was interesting. Was definitely kinda confusing when I just jumped into it the first time but after I stopped and read the description it all made sense. I enjoyed playing it!

Really neat little game and I love the simplicity of it! I agree with others that it's a little confusing at first, even when following the written guide (I'm still not sure what's causing the counsel to role up and pull me from being Mayor). Think it could benefit from a clearer U.I., as it's not super obvious at first what's clickable and what isn't, and what certain buttons and actions do. But, when it _is_ figured out, I find it to be a pretty fun and addicting little game! Great job overall.

p.s. It's really great to see you're still doing these, bud :) -Andrew

Awe thanks Andrew! I am still needing to try yours out as well! I hadn’t been on here in a while and saw you still doing the jams. Made me happy to see!

Very cool game! I love its simplicity in its design & fundamentals. At first, I felt a bit confused with where to place the goods I was receiving, but that was easy to pick up after playing it shortly. Also, maybe having a deeper written guide & helpful popup tips as you play could be beneficial to help bring new players up to speed.

On another note, I can see money management being a big aspect as you get deeper into your towns lifespan. With this in mind, I think being able to purchase Tier I goods (& future goods) in bulk, based on the total amount of money you have accumulated, would be a good quality of life feature for players. It could be helpful instead of having to individually purchase goods for a larger city with much higher demand.

Overall, this is a very fun & unique game. I really enjoyed playing it. :)

I enjoy the Tile management of this game and it is a unique twist on the theme! Did not think people could do strategy so well like you did

Thanks! It is my favorite genre and it is hard for me not to make them haha.

Good tile management, but little instructions. Double clicking everything wasn't very intuitive, but I loved that your game took my entire browser width automatically. Figured out i could buy things from the box and it gave me a lot of resources.

Was a little confused at first but I figured it out. I wish things progressed a little faster. Music and sound would be nice. I like the bar movement visual. Good job.

Tried it a few times but I couldn't manage to build anything. Not sure what the loading bars do?
I'll try it again if you add some instructions.

@reax there is some instruction underneath the game. After reading that does it somewhat help? I tried my best to explain it though there are a bit of moving parts that can be confusing. I tried to put more visuals in before the end that would help convey what was going on, but time is precious and I ran out of it. Let me know if those instructions were not updated better and I will delve into it some more.

I still haven't figured out how to play. I plan to return to the game later, as I love strategies. At first glance it should be interesting.
Good job.

@redneb I plan on updating the directions again to help players get in to the game. Would a video of play help? I will see what I can do today.
rEaX6 Oct 2022, 00:50
@austin Somehow I completely missed those instructions. I was looking for instructions on the LD page.
rEaX6 Oct 2022, 01:10
@austin Have now tried it again a bunch of times. It became more fun with time once I learned the mechanics.
I don't really have any complaints. I definitely think it has potential if you continue the development.

The button to draw more tiles never said anything but 0, and for whatever reason it wasn't letting me put stuff down sometimes and I had to reload the page to make it work. It's an interesting concept that's very on-theme, and I could see it being very enjoyable with some more UX polish.
